msb, you know how you were asking me if I'm a good cook? Here's my contribution to Easter dinner tomorrow.

I'm making this fancy macaroni and cheese...

And since the recipe calls for egg yolks, I'll have leftover whites. So I decided to make this to go with it. Meringue in a Nilla wafer crust topped with homemade whipped cream and fruit.

i'm more impressed with the photography than anything else though. props on the food still

Bleargh, those aren't my pics. They're from the websites where I got the recipes. I'm sure what I make will be pretty, though!

We got it for a wedding gift! Unfortunately, the little spinner plate thing on the bottom broke (the screw stripped out, I think), and we eventually just tossed it and just turn it as needed on the wood.

I really like it, though I do think some of the spice mixes and overly obscure spices were kind of silly. I'd much rather have a place for salt and pepper on it than "pizza seasoning" and "savory".
 
I have been working on my personal statement and had a friend who is a 3rd year resident MD/Phd look at it. He made some awesome suggestions that I think will really help. However he wants me to add something about my research and a faculty mentorship program I did. Unfortunately I am already 150 characters over the limit already which means something else has to come out.

I kind of thought since I will list my research stuff on AMCAS that it wasn't necessary to include. He basically said I focused a lot on "wanting to help people" and my stuff was good, but since being a doctor goes beyond that I should include my research (since I have it) to round it out a bit.

It is sooooooo frustrating trying to include everything in 5300 characters. Honestly I think it is BS to have to justify to someone else why I want to be a doctor in the first place.
