Congratulations! Also, Elmo = awesome.

Dude, Floaton, those cheerleader smilies are awesomesauce!

I also love that NPH/Elmo gif. It's my new favorite.

Part of me is thinking of postponing the MCAT to May 22nd. I know I've still got a little more than a month but I don't feel ready. I'll see how I feel in about 10 days, when I have to decide to reschedule.

I did this. Right now, my life is in utter chaos and I know that I wouldn't be ready for the May 1 test date. I don't regret it. The May 22 date is actually better in every way for me at this point. However, I agree with you in that you should wait and decide if you are ready then. Good luck. :luck:

If you do postpone goodluck! And grats to your hsband!

I would recommend doing your best to be ready for the earlier date -- the earlier you apply, the better your chances! Then again, I guess you really shouldn't take it until you're ready =). I'm sure you'll do well, regardless 👍

Also, congrats to your hubby!!!

Yeah, that's kind of where I'm at right now. I think I'd do alright if I took it on May 1st. I think I might be able to really knock it out of the park by May 22nd. We'll see how I feel the end of next week.

And thanks! That's part of why I'm concerned. If he loves this job, and we really think he will, it took him a year of actively job-hunting to find and land a better job. We will want to stay in Philly if that's the case. That limits me to 5 schools, 6 if I include UMDNJ-SOM, which is in South Jersey and doable but a bit of a hike. So if I really kick ass on the MCAT it'll make me feel a LOT better.

First, your thesis is more interesting than mine and now your smilies are. 😡

I ain't got no thesis!

(I think you're confusing me with someone else, but yeah, that smilie was pretty freakin awesome.😀)

youll be fine you are probably a near lock at the DO school think positive!!🙂. at least you live in a state with a lot of med schools as well as schools that arent too stat heavy/impossible 😛. I hope you get in, always root for people with little ones in this process🙂

Whoops. Confused you (FloatOn) with FlowRate. 🙄 Must be the 'Flo'. 😳 Despite that, your smilie was still cool. 😎

I'm the cool 2014er, so thank me later for this bump.

I also just want whatever geekchick is cooking up. 😀

Any other Duke fans here??

I know msb is having a blast right now lol

That game was too close for comfort. The last 2 minutes I was sitting on the edge of my seat with my face in my hands. GO DUKE!!!

So, am I the only loser that likes to lurk on the School Specific Discussion sub-board and read the threads for the schools I'm applying to? Cuz I do that pretty much every day.

But on the other hand, I'm now expecting that Drexel might take three months after my interview (if I get one) to update me to so much as "sent to committee".

Yeah, but it's exciting, too! I'm living vicariously through them.

Topic change!

I'm thinking of pushing the MCAT back to May 22nd. I'm going to take another practice MCAT this week and next week as I continue to review and see how I'm looking.

you probably don't want to push back any further if you do end up with the may 22 date because of the app cycle starting up, but i'm sure you already know that

Didn't you score a 37 on a practice test last week or something? With 1 month left till May 1, I think you're in excellent shape even if you are aiming for a 40. Anything in that range is amazing lol

But it's your choice obviously, do you what you think is best. 👍

I know, bleargh, but it helps to have someone else say it.

And IV, yes, but then I took another one and got a 32. Not bad, by any stretch, but since Geekman got that job I'm probably only applying to the Philly schools, so now I'm a little nervous. Like I said, though, I'm going to take two more practices by the last date to reschedule so I'll decide then.

don't take this the wrong way, but i think that much variability can't be good.. i personally would not be comfortable taking the test until i was within 2 points variation test-to-test. you also never responded to my pm?

dont limit yourself to only philly schools! theres a lot of randomness in med school applications, you never know what can happen.

Yeah, we have.

My husband JUST got a new job, something that he will probably really love. If that's the case, that restricts me to Philly.

So, am I the only loser that likes to lurk on the School Specific Discussion sub-board and read the threads for the schools I'm applying to? Cuz I do that pretty much every day.

I used to, but mostly to look at the prompts. I haven't been keeping up with any of the threads b/c I've noticed SDN in general runs in "cycles". Right now the cycle is pretty lame IMO. Most of the posts are people from the last cycle still stressing on getting off wait lists and it is apparently too early for people from our cycle to post anything useful. Most of the posts I've seen from our cycle are questions that I found out the answers to a LONG time ago.
For example:
"How many activities can we list on amcas? When can we submit our primary? Is there a prompt for the personal statement? Do I have to volunteer? Do I have to shadow? Is it easier to get in to a DO school? How many LOR do I need? Do I need a non-science letter?" 🙄

In general most threads, especially in the school specific forum are kinda dull right now. 😴

Nope. I have been doing this practically everyday for schools that I am interested in since the beginning of the cycle. :scared:

This. It gets me excited for my own med school cycle!

i hope the llamaworm brings me that kind of luck

I'm super stressed too. My SO is pressuring me to apply with the 2015 class (instead of the 2016 class). This really puts a time cramp on things that I otherwise thought I could take more time with.

His logic is that "its just money" in applying this year. No big deal if I don't get in, though he is confident I will and doesn't want me to "waste" another year.

My preference at this point is strongly MD/JD. On certain days I also consider CRNA....

ugg. I dont know.

I think you know better than your SO when you're ready to apply. Relax.

What's wrong curbye?

Also, i think it's hilarious how the first assumption for the said stress is waiting for MCAT scores, lol... only on SDN

LIFE BLOWS

nah, whatever. i just had a minor infarction earlier today due to some stupid school sh it. its all good (from diego to the bay, yo city is da bomb if yo city makin pay). minus sleep deprivation. that's no good .so see u laters.

float, how do you know the rankings of each thread?

I've been tallying everyone's posts on paper since I've joined.

Just kidding.

If you click the number of replies next to each thread title on the main pre-allo page, it shows you who has how many posts in the thread.

haha i hate you. and i just figured it out. 😛

My school is doing this collaborative program thing about midwifery in Central America this summer, basically seeing midwives in action, aka cool baby/women's health stuff. Application and deposit are due next week. Thanks for sending us the email today. :d

I should save up for a more planned trip next summer.
