i just hope i get to do something on rotations. i hear too many stories about it just being a glorified shadowing experience.
 
that question keeps me up every night, making me feel that perhaps i need help but that i can be a psychiatrist and save myself from the question itself
 
After a whole lifetime some people say everything was a glorified shadowing experience.

depends on the school i think. if you go to some place like mayo or cleveland clinic they won't let you do much, cause their patients are generally too important for you to touch. but if you go to like suny downstate or miami where you get to see a lot of underserved patients, then you can be a lot more hands on.

pretty messed up. but, i see what you're saying.
 
Yeah some friends at downstate tell me theyve done more as MS1/2 than some people will get in residency -- cant wait to get dirty. but yeah psychiatry is a better career for my persona, ive discovered. i just like neurochemistry and the philosophy and thinking aspect of interacting with someone in a different state.

on the end i really will have to decide based on experience but i dont see what else id love to do besides that. and i used to be way convinced id be a surgeon.
 
at this point i have a better idea of what i don't want to do honestly.
 
Thats better than most people so your doing fine. I spent my entire life in a psychiatric family, meaning they practice it, not patients haha. And truth be told I always disliked the profession until the last year when I took off to work in a research/clinical setting in a trauma unit, vs working at the family practice everyday. Worlds apart, and I resolved my original distaste for psychiatry.
 
i need a field with more instant gratification than psych.
 
i figured gas was the fastest result career of all the medical ones haha. i really dont see which profession in medicine has a quicker outcome after putting in the fentanyl or whatever. that works in a few seconds
 
i don't need INSTANT gratification ALL the time. just a quicker, more consistent, response than what happens in psych.
 
you wouldn't believe what a 'fast acting' lie can make a patient say. Yeah here take this, its going to ease your troubles in like 45 seconds, oh and you may get a 10 hour erection.

i hate to admit this, but her songs are too damn catchy and i always catch myself enjoying them in the car... i'm sorry humanity.

but really lets be honest here. I have never known who 'kesha' was, I just heard her songs a bunch and liked the beat. Very hit sounding stuff, and the lyrics make her sound like shes a hot celebrity drunk girl. I mean can you blame guys who never saw keshas photo for making that assumption?

So I see her picture maybe weeks after hearing this song and really feel like I was robbed, its been a rough night.

well if you could keep up we could be together, but alas.

one of my friends is an "older" pre-med. 27 or 28, hes just now finishing undergrad, yes 10 years, and he just got an EMT certification. i feel like he's going to stay an EMT or continue living like a mama's boy and get a research job through her. i dont know why i'm sharing this, but i am.

seriously? i don't trust the water! you know that. all the hormones from all of the contraceptives. i'd rather die with an enlarged liver than with increased estrogen levels. don't you know me, i am a real man. 🙁
