Class of 2015!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
oh very cool

that's insane 93 credits in 2 years???? 24 credits each semester? damn, that's insane

I had 4 AP, then 17, then 13, 16 that summer, then 26, then 17, and now 4 this summer. I have a full ride tuition wise, so it definitely inclined me to take a lot of classes. 12 credits were for my EMT-class, so they don't count for my degree (that was the 26 credits).

ha i wish i wouldve had my **** together like that. better late than never.

We'll all end up at the same place anyhow. I am only rocking a 3.7 GPA right now, so hopefully I can get it up, it's hard to get it up now (thats what she said) cause I have such a large amount of credits.

oakland, have you taken the MCAT yet?

Nope, I'm just gonna do it next summer. This summer is 1 class, research fellowship 9-5, and some EMT work on the weekends.

no honor. so shallow.

Sounds like me.

man i REALLY need to come to the east hahahai will definitely be there sometime this summer anyways, hopefully you will be there and not doing a whole slew of interviews when that time comes

no rush, but on a side note, this kid just got into medschool in CA and he was 19....he was also a douche (not that it matters lol, i just reallly didnt like him)

It's good to know that douches get into med-school, I feel like I have a chance now.

Yeah, I just didn't wanna risk it, plus I have a full ride so I might as well just use more of OU's money for an extra year.

hopefullY NYC, depends where i can find a deal...maybe boston

any ideas?
if you know people in philly, fly into philly. its probably a little cheaper than flying into nyc. check philly out for a couple days, then take the bolt bus to nyc from philly. it drops you off right near the empire state building. its 26 bucks round trip, a 2 hour ride, the bus has wi-fi, its legit. check out nyc for as long as you want, then go back to philly to fly out.

Catch me at the X with OG at a Yankee game,
Sh-t I made the yankee hat more famous than a yankee can,
You should know I bleed Blue, but I aint a crip tho,
But I got a gang of n-ggas walking with my click though,
Welcome to the melting pot,
Corners where we selling rocks,
Afrika bambaataa sh-t,
Home of the hip hop,
Yellow cap, gypsy cap, dollar cab, holla back,

The MCAT looks hard though. I've done 1 AAMC practice (I saw that it was free and thought it was some special deal, didn't know I'd need it later) and I got a 33 and I hadn't taken Physics at the time. I recently did the gen-chem physics section from a PDF file that my friend was using to study and got a 14 on it, I was really stoked. It was all ideal gas law and stuff like that.

How have you guys been dealing with the MCAT? Anyone here wanna brag lol?

You guys all west coasters other than msb?

yeah i entered college with like 18 credits and then dabbled for a little while, which kept my gpa pretty mediocre just above a 3.0ish, so when i decided on med school for sure i already had like 100 credits, which screwed my gpa. my final 71 credits i did in 1 calendar year and rocked a 3.7.

sorry adcoms, i was doing what you're supposed to do in college.

good call with that. last time i was in NY i wasnt 21 and it was just all sightseeing still fun and lots to see, but i think i want a different experience this time

For real man, my friends who party a lot get pissed when I miss a couple parties. (I missed the Beer Olympics and the sex-toy party this year, epic fail on my part). But then my pre-med/science major friends get pissed when I party and get good grades while they are at the library studying all day.

It's all about balance and sacrificing just the right amount to get into med-school.

i recommend a day/evening/night at the brooklyn brewery. they have special brews on tap there that they dont sell in the store. you pay 20 bucks, get a little tour/history and then you get six tokens, which equals six pints. best 20 you can spend in nyc

people learn at different paces. I for one, am a very slow learner, so I have to work a lot harder than some of my friends, but people only see what's on paper

you gotta do what you gotta do.

alright fellas

got to study some immunology.

goodnight

I'm east coast, you're in great shape for the MCAT, keep it up bro

Dude I would love to do well on it. My goal is to get into U of M med school, and if that doesn't work out I'll probably end up at Wayne State or Oakland University's med school. OU is pairing up with the hospital I was born at for their clinical rotations, so that'll be interesting. U of M would be my dream, but my school is 4th tier with no prestige, so that will probably hurt me with them.

Either way, I'll apply to all the MI schools as kind've a safety net, and then I'll throw in apps to places I'd like to live, Cali, Flo-Rida, New York, etc. I'm still a year away, but I love talking to the 2014ers and 2015ers now because I have no mentors at my school since people brag about going DO and Caribbean, so I look up to all of you guys.

try to catch a yankee or met game in NYC too, it's a good experience

yeah yankees would be sick.

with a good mcat score i will be applying to NY and maybe get some interviews at the same time i want to go there and it would be a dream come true

It all depends on what it is. Like genetics is something I would only have to study 1-2 hours a week for, Physiology I had to study like 30 hours a week for. Even orgo 1 I barely studied for, but orgo II was crazy and I studied 40 hours a week.

You are right though, all that matters is the grade at the end of the day. My issue is that classes that screwed me up were all gen-eds that I didn't care for so I didn't give them enough time and they ended up screwing me over.

nite man, enjoy the immuno.

That sounds pretty bossy. Wear a Yankees cap to the interview.

dude, orgo II rocked my face off. there were like 50 rxns for each test it seemed like. taking it over the summer with a full course lload didnt help haha. i still managed a B

Alright, class in 4.5 hours, so I'm out for the night as well, G' nite everyone. Nice meeting you guys.

It is finished!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Semester = Done. GPA = hopefully >3.5 for this semester =\

Good stuff man! Hooray for summer!

Today was the first day of my fellowship with the PI i've been working with for a year.

The man is pure genius. The way he links up some of these articles is unreal, and how he himself works on so many different projects at once. I'm just mad because he's publicized two things I've worked on without giving me any dap. Whatever.

flow, i was thinking about it and since you said your BF% was higher than a normal range, you might want to bulk up on the weights, THEN, trim down. the added muscle will help you in your cardio, more than cardio will help you gain muscle. just a thought.

hi! okay so sorry i've been really MIA. this place has been stressing me a bit. anyway, i searched for my name and found you guys saying i was dirty. WHATTEVVERRR you all just have dirty little minds!!!!!!! 😉

and yes, cinco de mayo was a shhhh ittttt show. it was bad. so i was using t 9 texting (dont ask) and let me just say....the mistakes i made were pretty awful. did you know that "snout" is one letter away from "point" ? kind of an awkward word to insert into a text at 2am while talking about a possible meeting of the heavenly bodies (yeah, i went there).

curbye is gonna kill you
you know that right? lol

you're right, i think i pissed her off more

hahaha

it's okay as long as i can expect a man who knows how to fix everything around the house and get me places on time without taking us on ridiculous shortcuts. oh, and he should be fairly built yet i don't want to hear about how he works out all the time. also should be able to build our kids a treehouse from scratch.

just started looking at the MSAR book, but its so hard to figure out where to apply when my scores come out June 1st, pretty much the same day i can submit

i feel you on the stress factor here. i decided i'm pretty much only going to post in the class threads where its fun and stress free.

So I collected all of my LOR on interfolio. Last week I sent one of my letters to amcas so I could figure out how it works. I wanted to know if it worked before I took the time to fill all the stuff out for all 4 letters. It cost me $4 to send that 1 letter. It worked so today I sent the other 3 letters... and it cost me $4. I thought it was $4/letter forwarded, but apparently you can send as many as you want at a time for $4.

I hate wasting money. If anyone else is using interfolio then I suggest forwarding all of your letters at once.

thanks for the heads up! AACOMAS doesnt take the letters so i'm going to have to forward them all to each school

there is 1 DO school I am considering applying at, how similar is amcas to aacomas? I'm debating about whether or not it is worth filling out for 1 school.

its probably as simple as copying and pasting, but i didnt open an AMCAS so i cant be sure. i know arti has done both

I guess I'll have to open aacomas and see. I am considering applying to a DO school to give me 1 more possibility of staying in socal near my family and gf (family b/c I'm a single parent and I could use the help, and my gf just b/c she's awesome).

Livin the dream. I'm really excited about a research fellowship.

I also got a job offer from BMW, basically I do an internship there next fall and right after I graduate I will be working to help make their cars more environmentally friendly. Really interesting, the Chair of Biochem told me about it because they wanted one of the top students, so he said he recommended me to them I was like, "but I'm pre-med" and he said I'd get a discount on BMW's.

It's a damn good offer, they would pay for me to take credits at a South Carolina school in the area and they would pay for me apartment and then pay me $19 an hour. Sounds pretty good for an internship, worst come to worst I can throw it on my med school app.

anyone see this guy get tasered at the phillies game last week haha

he took a face plant into the grass afterward... don't tase me bro!

that sounds too good to be true. you'd probably be really close to me too.

haha people that run onto the field in the middle of a game have to be out of their mind

So since I was half studying/half following this thread last night, what was the discussion actually about again? Anything longer than 2 lines I didn't read.

It was a huge deal, apparently he was a 17 year old and he had called his dad before he did it and his father warned him not to. I think he also got charged with a misdemeanor.

sounds like a good job bro 👍

I know, like if it were a different situation or something I wouldn't think twice about going and doing it. I was sooooo set on med-school and I definitely can take a semester off to work, but I had the mindset I would just kick it and work EMS until med-school started. I'll talk to my parents about it and sit down with the head of the biochem dept. to see if it's really worth it. It makes me feel really good that he knew what lab I was working in today and like pulled me aside to tell me about it and then threw me the e-mail they threw him. That's one of the nice things about a smaller school (18k students, but a pretty small yet growing science dept).

holy ballz, I noticed this vid when I pulled up the other one. This guy is cool under pressure cuz I probably would have froze
