Oh SNAP!

In all seriousness, most of my friends are not pre-meds.

Lucky! All my friends are from my major and they're all pre-meds...too much competition. I need to find more friends outside of pre-med at my school.

Non-premed friends are the best IMHO. I have some pre-med friends but a lot of my good friends are not pre-med. 🙂 It helps that I was a closet pre-med until recently.

It's our little secret. Tots will never find out! 😛

😉

Hahahahahaha oh man, you guys crack me up.

First of all, Tots, may I applaud you on your profusion of arm hair. May it bode thee well in thy future as a physician.

Secondly, I agree with tman: metal watches pull more arm hair than I thought could ever exist on an arm. 'Nuff said.

Thirdly, OMG I HAVE SO MUCH TROUBLE READING ANALOG CLOCKS. It's gotten to the point where I neurotically bring my own personal DIGITAL alarm clock thing to all my exams, so I can always know what time it is. I'm pretty sure everyone judges me for it, but whatevahhh. Judgers gonna judge. They always use it, too. Or maybe they just cheat? 😕
Oh, and my parents think I'm so stupid when I admit that it takes me a full fifteen seconds to figure out the time. Sometimes more. 'Tis a sad life.

And YEAH, I figured out meiosis! I decided not to obsess over it and just accept the simple facts. XX XX--> XX (Meiosis I) XX--> X (Meiosis I). I just don't understand spermatogenesis and oogenesis. Can someone explain these pesky concepts to me?

Ooh, fun MCAT anecdote for the day: at my family dinner, I talked to my dad about various endocrine diseases (renin-angiotensin pathway/ACE inhibitors and AR blockers/hypertension, osteoporosis, renal physiology, thyroid hormones) for like an hour, until my mom was like " THIS IS ENOUGH. YOU SHALL NOT SPEAK MORE ABOUT SCIENCE". Yay science nerds, haha 👍

Oh, and about the gender thing, I totally thought tman was a girl for the longest time, simply because his avatar is Aishwarya. Even when he made the arm hair comment, I was momentarily VERY taken aback, until I realized that he was not, for the umpteenth time, Aishwarya. :meanie:

Ah.. Well if they are cool guys it's okay. To be honest we don't have many gunners in my school and most pre-meds are actually chill.

I need to find more friends outside of pre-med at my school.

Did you consider rushing a frat?

I have strangely never had this problem. Despite my surgeon-grade arm hair.

Wow, I made the mistake of declaring to the world that I was pre-med as a PREFROSH. I don't remember not being passionate about medicine (which I'm happy about!), but I was pretty ridiculous. Three months before fall semester of my freshman year, I emailed the PREMED ADVISOR, asking whether I should take Gen Chem and Bio together, whether my university math classes would count for med school, whether I should take Chinese or not, and which Spanish I should aim to place into. Oh, and what the optimal schedule for spring semester would be.

I've since toned it down a little. Hopefully.

Haha! Its ok. At least you were on top of it. I have been on these forums since 2008 even though I really didn't decide to go to med school until maybe a year ago.

My school isn't too gunnerish, I feel like people are thinking gunner thoughts but don't express them. It's VERY taboo to talk about grades, etc, which I really like. I have a few premed friends, but have a good share of non-premed friends too, which is nice. What's great about the non premed friends is that they kind of take a step back and try to understand what you're going through, whereas premed friends are just as buried in crap as you are.

You used to be a gunner 😱

I am glad you made a full(?) recovery.

We have just been missing you. 🙁

i have been missing you guys more. the stress is starting to kick in. school starts like soon. i'm still struggling with my new apartment. my mcat scores would be released soon. argh this is too much

Is your dad a doctor?

Hahaha nope, he's a P.A. 😀

I mostly just talked at him while he desperately tried to eat. Poor dude. And then, since I did some embryology today, I randomly brought up ectopic pregnancies when some relatives came over for tea, and ended up discussing them for ages, as everyone stared at me as if I had three heads. Ectopic pregnancy diagnosis > tea :meanie:

so why did you register in 2008? were you going into pharm or dental?

How is that being a gunner? I was just really OCD about getting my premed crap together. The only person who suffered was my premed advisor, lol.

Ah.. Well if they are cool guys it's okay. To be honest we don't have many gunners in my school and most pre-meds are actually chill.

Did you consider rushing a frat?

Too many gunners at my school. I've never really been a fan of frats...too much partying for my tastes =/

My school is full of gunners looking to pick off the weak students. Its sad. I wear my gunnerproof vest to class everyday.

so why did you register in 2008? were you going into pharm or dental?

Neither. I was interested in finding out what this medical thing was about. I wanted to be an Epidemiologist when I came into college not realizing that some were doctors.

Yup...it really sucks sometimes 🙁

Really? My school doesn't really have too many. The only one I can think of is actually the most brilliant kid ever, so he's usually forgiven for his callousness. My friend once asked him what he thought of an exam, and he replied "I thought it was really excellent!". This was Organic Chemistry II 😱

We're rooting for you! Don't stress too much since you had a good feeling coming out of the MCAT!

Do like me. register with them but don't associate with them

I guess I could do that, but I think they kick you out of the frats if you don't party with them at my school.

......I said something similar during the third quarter of organic chemistry. 🙁 it was more like "That was a fascinating test!"

:laugh: You had your paranoid days, huh?

Hahahaha, ohhhh yeah. It's gotten better though. It was mostly due to the fact that my high school woefully underprepared me to take any sort of science class, so I had to bust my arse to learn them all from scratch, and was concurrently freaking out about it. I guess being paranoid has gotten me done with requirements pretty fast though, so it was worth that one prefrosh summer of xtreme worrying.

Yeah, I know some people like that. Except there's too many of them...
