I will probably stay for it, but im pretty sure after we get it im turning off my computer for a while. Too distracting.

We have our own thread now, yay! Hello fellow class of 2017-ers. When are you guys planning on taking your MCAT? I was thinking of January 2012 but my prehealth adviser suggested I take it in March/April 2012. Is that too late?

Heya! I am taking my MCAT Sept. 2nd =D

March or April is not too late but January might give you better Prep time if you commit to studying over winter break. Also depends on if you are done with the pre-reqs yet or not.

no that is not late at all. I'll prob take my after that date cause ill be done with all my pre-reqs spring 2012 which kinda sucks but oh well

I would suggest when you are done with all your pre-reqs so the info is still relatively fresh. Im taking an extra year(damn major switch), so this upcoming year is really my 4th year. I was going to take it next year and then apply next year as well, but my adviser originally told me to just do it this summer since i would be finished with my pre-reqs.

So, towards the end of this spring i met with him to go over my fall schedule and mentioned i was taking the MCAT this summer and he said "why are you doing that?"........
Um, because you told me to?


It made sense though, Id rather have the summer to spend studying than have to do it during the school year.

Ya. I should be done by this fall. Well I probably won't take physics 2 lab and organic chemistry lab until the spring but I'll have general biology I & II, general chemistry I & II, organic chemistry I & II, physics I & II, english I & II, and some other courses which may help like biochemistry, biophysics, mammalian physiology, etc.

Nice, yeah I wont have oChem lab until next spring. Id say if you feel comfortable with it, why not January?

That should be fine. The lab is important imho but not make it or break it. Just make sure when you are reviewing for the MCAT that you spend a little extra time on the lab techniques sections. You probably covered the concepts behind the techniques in lecture anyways. Apparently the 2 most common Ochem topics covered are Carbonyls and Lab Techniques.

Good to know, We didnt go over any lab techniques in our lecture. In studying i was like NMR, IR spectroscopy wha?
