Class of 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I am sorry dude 🙁 I know it sounds repetitive, but things will get better :luck:

Think of the Ferrari you'll drive as a super rich doctor 😀

That's if I get into med school. I need to pull up my GPA this year and do a bunch of ECs. Hopefully things work out :xf::xf:

more realistically i'd prob want a cts v coupe for my daily driver and murcielago on the side 👍 and maybe an aston not sure lmao...

I probably wouldn't get anything too expensive. Probably spend like 30-40k on a car. Maybe get an infiniti coupe or something. Those are nice cars. You're lucky, SU 👍👍

They charged $1200 for express theft deterrent bs where they will make a $5000 down payment on a new car if your car gets stolen, which is total bs...like seriously??? And they charged $1800 for Lojack. They said the $1200 is gone...into their pocket of course -_- and the $1800 can be used to add other accessories in the car, but it won't be returned. I mean what kind of low-life jerks do that...I hate some peoples occupations 🙁

Damn that sucks. I still say you complain to someone (although I don't know whom) because that express theft crap is not even an add-on as much as it's a coverage. There must be a way to void it

The evil part of me says that years from now when your uncle decides to sell his car he should just claim that it was stolen so those f****rs will have to dish out the five grand

Smart thing to do. What kinda house can you picture yourself in - in the near future?

What do you have in mind for ECs? Volunteering? Research?

I am undecided on that car. Part of me likes the way it looks, but the other part of me says it's tacky

I heard its performance is amazing though

Ther performance is amazing at such a good price, but the only thing I don't like about it is it's too damn heavy!!! Other then that yea they can polish the looks. Interior is nice and i can totally picture myself in that car daily hah

CTS v coupe hennesy upgrade---700 hp 👍

I was thinking the exact same thing, but I don't want him to sink to their level. Hopefully the thing called karma will pay them a visit =/

I'd prefer to live in an apartment if I live in NYC. Probably one on some tall building 😀 If I live in a suburban place, I'd just get a small house with a nice gym in the basement 👍👍

I guess I was mistaken about American cars 😀

Cool cool, well my father builds homes, and I'll most likely build my own home with his expertise 👍 of course in florida

lol that car is exactly $1 million. And plus there were only a few made.

Good to have another car guy here 👍

I think only 20 or so were made. It's an instant classic

Same with Aston Martin one-77 😱

Your GPA this year = 4.0

What do you have in mind for ECs? Volunteering? Research?

Thanks! We're both getting 4.0s this year...if not at least a 3.8 😀😀 I'm in like 2 clubs. I'm gonna be volunteering at the hospital this year...hopefully :xf::xf: I don't really want to do research, but I feel like I should do some for at least a semester. Not to mention shadowing MDs and DOs to ask for a letter :xf::xf: A lot to do :scared::scared:

Stupid question: How cheap is it to build your own house compared to getting a mortgage?

Thanks tman. I really do consider myself lucky. Hopefully it lasts for many years!

And here it is 🙂

It was really good price for a 2005 too. It's a little high on mileage (90K) but oh well 🙂

Sexy sexy! Well, it's a japanese car, so it'll probably last you years! I wouldn't say 90k miles is too bad. You can get another 100-200k on it 👍👍 Mind if I ask around how much you paid?

Sounds really awesome. That explains your mansion sized house :laugh: Did he build that?

3.8 sounds good! 🙂

Umm... it's strange I never asked this before: but are you a senior or junior? If you are a junior just go with volunteering this year and you can do research next year. Apparently both are highly important for adcomms

I need to get doc letters too.. I am only planning to get one from a DO though as MD schools don't require a doc letter.

Stupid question: How cheap is it to build your own house compared to getting a mortgage?

I'd probably get my home made just the way I want if I have like a couple years to wait. I'll most likely just buy a home with a huge backyard and front yard, though 😀 And a pool!

freakin jet, it's funny you can pull up to someone and they think you have grandpas car, then you haul azz! 👍

The GTR is an amazing car, too. For the price, it's freaking awesome. Sure it doesn't look as good as other sports cars, but it delivers 😀

Well obviously when someone builds a home they sell it for more to someone who's interested most likely $100,000+ more than it cost to build it.

So in reality you can build a nice home for around $300,000+

This is my father's website and these are the type of homes I can build myself for a little over $300,000 when it comes time. It all comes down to picking the right contractors and not getting ripped off.

Yeah, I would like a DO letter to apply to the DO schools. I'll most likely get into a DO school if I get in somewhere. I'm actually going to be a junior this year. I'd save research for next year, but we're gonna be applying next june, so I wanted a complete application by the end of this year 🙁

Yup I really hope so! I am hoping this one will get me through medical school at least, if not residency 😀

It was $14K pre-tax.... I was saving up money for about two years and my parents also chipped in a little. But nevertheless my wallet took a really big hit (especially after insurance)

What D.O schools are you interested in.

I have a few in mind

instate----tcom

i dont think you really need a D.O letter do you? I looked on one of their websites and they said an M.D letter is fine.

I barely see any around here. I guess nobody drives them in the city 😛 Plenty of porsches, lambos, and ferraris, though.

That's so sick 😱

It's great for your future to have a dad who's building houses 😀

Thanks, and yea he is a hard worker👍

I really like the Tuscan style homes he builds as well. He just got done building a whole subdivision and one of them was going to be our "downsize" home but we decided against it to save money and just pay off the house were in as of now.

I am applying to all in NY and PA

Yeah some substitute an MD letter in place of a DO letter.. But some are really anal about it

Insurance is a killer for everyone under 25...It adds up to sooo much! I saved up some money and was planning to use it to get a car with my parents help, but we can't afford it anymore =/ I think you can go through med school with it. Not sure about residency. You'll probably upgrade by then 😀

Most of them require DO letters. Some require either/or. I'm gonna apply to most of them...probably. I'll have to due my research on the areas and stats once we get closer to applying before I can make final decisions, though.

damn lol idk where i could find a D.O letter. I know for a fact I'll get an M.D letter from my cousin :meanie:

Yeah, probably better to pay off your current house since home values will probably go up at one point. I know my house is worth more than when we purchased it. Houses in all the major cities will skyrocket in price in like the next 10 years with sooo many people moving in to the cities.

Uhh me too. I don't know much about their philosophy and I am sure it'll come up during the applications/interviews

Also, I am really glad that the 2017 guys are not like those weird people who say they'd rather go Carib than go DO... I admit: my top choice is MD, but I'd never ever in my life say no to a DO acceptance

yea man idc as long as i get in.....screw the school if i like it and i wanna become a physician then hell with it I'll accept that school that wants me unlike some people who have a D.O acceptance and want to reapply for M.D.

But i know for a fact i wont accept schools like touro etc thats just me but i shouldn't have to worry because im not even applying there.

Nice! I think a DO will give you a letter if you shadow them a couple times. I'm gonna have to ask the DOs at my university hospital if I can shadow them...hopefully they say yes. I know a lot of them are really busy and all.

Yeah, I'm really open to DO. I know I'll be getting the same education+some more, so why not? I don't mind the two letters that will be on a coat...it's not important when you're saving lives. I'd go to the carib if I didn't get into either, because I know I want to be a doctor for sure. I don't know what else I would do 😕
