Class of 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

🙁 I hate stupid mistakes :boom: Should have gotten a 31 on AAMC7, but missed it by 2 points...1 question in PS and 1 in BS away from 31 😡 I made some really dumb mistakes, too. 🙁

Hahaha, I'm only that passionate about certain aspects of bio. Mainly those dealing with and contributing in any way to physiology. What's cool about macromolecules is that their chemistry defines so much of what happens on the bigger level.

Time to watch some pre-bed House and go to sleep before the AAMC tomorrow. Deciding between 4, 9, and 10 right now.

I'm the weirdo who likes all of the "smaller stuff" like biochem and cell bio better than physiology. If I didn't want to be a doctor I'd probably go for pharmacology. 😛

Good luck tomorrow! Night all!

You'll nab that 31 next time. 30 still works. 🙂

at least you know what you did wrong and can fix it next time 👍

Wow, SU, I'm taking Biochem I and Genetics next semester too! I'm scared :scared: Biochem I at my school is the chem-heavy version, so it's the chemistry behind macromolecules and enzyme kinetics. It seems pretty difficult, but SUPER SUPER interesting. I'm excited

OMG if it is anything like my chemical biology class it will be awesome! Its like...relevant ochem 🙂

Ooooh and I'm taking a poetry writing workshop class next semester. I'm uber pumped. If it's listed as an English class, it counts for the pre-med requirement even though it's creative writing as opposed to expository writing, right?

I am taking a fiction writing class next quarter and also hoping it counts for the pre-med requirement.

M: 8-10:40, lab 2-4:30
T: 11-1:20, 2-3:15
W: 9-9:50, 1-1:50, TA 2-4:50
Th: 8-10:40, lab 2-4:50
F: 11-1:20, 2-3:15

And probably running and lifting before lab on Mon/TA on Wed/class on Fri. Busy busy. :scared:

Ugh, I wish it was the same for me. I have to do 4 upper level bios (3 w/labs) and a seminar or research for bio, and a seminar or research for my minor senior year. :scared:

That's so cool. It's awesome that you do something you love. My equivalent is lifting. Nothing gets me in a better mood than a good workout. 👍

Oh! I just took the strength finder test. These are my strengths, if anyone's interested:

1. Input -- People who are especially talented in the Input theme have a craving to know more. Often they like to collect and archive all kinds of information.

2. Restorative -- People who are especially talented in the Restorative theme are adept at dealing with problems. They are good at figuring out what is wrong and resolving it.

3. Connectedness -- People who are especially talented in the Connectedness theme have faith in the links between all things. They believe there are few coincidences and that almost every event has a reason.

4. Futuristic -- People who are especially talented in the Futuristic theme are inspired by the future and what could be. They inspire others with their visions of the future.

5. Responsibility -- People who are especially talented in the Responsibility theme take psychological ownership of what they say they will do. They are committed to stable values such as honesty and loyalty.

I'm surprised, I think I mostly agree. 😱

My top 5 are:

Learner
Input
Restorative
Analytical
Intellection

We have a few in common!

I am not joking when I say that once you figure out how not to make dumb mistakes your score will increase. I think this is why an error log is valuable because it made me conscious on the common "stupid" mistakes I made. I mean....pir^2 = circumference = FAIL.

👍

do you have to memorize every single formula for every single subject? well mainly chem and physics

You guys are right...I'm making these errors now and I'll just have to make sure not to make them on the real thing. I've been really lazy about the error log thing since I usually have so many mistakes 🙄 I wonder if it's too late to start now.

Not that many formulas actually come up. It's mostly concepts. There are some formula related questions, but it's better if you get down the concepts imo.

That explains a lot

damn, lol that kinda sucks becasue in class its all about formulas etc

No but you should be familiar with many of them. They will give you 80% of the formulas you need. Knowing as many as possible helps you either when there is a discrete that requires that formula or when you only have an idea and need to guess. For example I knew velocity was in the force equation for magnetism and not electric fields even if I couldn't write the exact equation. This got me a point.

are any of yall gonna work partime with a somewhat heavy schedule?

i can easily get a job at 24 hr fitness cuz my bro works there, maybe get in 20 hrs max F,S,Su--weekend only.

my schedule

ochem lec/no lab
behavioral nsc
integrative nsc
bio
physics

I need $$$

I will be working about 10-15 hours a week. Have worked every year. Last year I worked 30+ hours a week but only had about 3 real classes + research and other ECs 😛 ~14 units a quarter.

Actually my schedule this year won't be that much different. 2-3 UD bio classes a quarter is enough for me.

yea i was thinking 10-15 hrs as well 20 hrs max!

sounds good just wondering if people have time to study etc, and i know it comes down to time management and all that.

I think i might get the job then....prob F-Su 👍👍

Go for it if you think you can keep your grades up 👍

Yea thats a lot of intense classes.....but I am not sure how the semester system is. People generally take more classes during each semester than we take per quarter....
oh yea ur on the quarter system.

well my classes run through aug 24-dec 15th. and the majority of my classes are on Tu/Th and my physics is on MWF

Physics, bio, orgo+a job is gonna kill you

well my bio 2 is very easy, and my physics is a retake from when i dropped it so i kinda have an idea.

Also, i think i can study at work and im really not trying to work everyday only up to 10-15 hrs on the weekend. Plus i prob wont do anything on the weekends except slack off.

need some work experience

Sounds like you know you can pull it off. Go for it 👍

lol yea hopefully and i can prob do my hw at work. keep myself busy during the weekend👍

Some of my friends started doing even better in school when they got a job. They would just study at work since they were usually bored.
