Done with school, taking a year off, applying right now, 1 interview at a top 10 (I'm a big time underdog). I hope others are having similar or greater success.

Congrats! I am also taking year off...seems to be pretty common around here this year. And obviously if they invited you to an interview at this point, I doubt you are an underdog, they must like you! Congrats again!

Haha thanks...If this is wrong then I don't want to be right 😛 I am really fortunate to be able to check out all these amazing schools. I honestly did not expect to be in this situation which is why I applied to so many places.

Replying to this message as I stuff my face with cookies for breakfast waiting for a 2 hour meeting to start....I'm never going to fit in my suit.

I'm not even done with secondaries or moved in yet either - the next few weeks are going to be a ride on the strugglebus!
 
Just got my first rejection, it bites. I guess I should get used to it though, my stats make me a bit of an allopathic underdog, I guess. 🙁

I just finished the last of the secondaries that I'm capable of doing at this point (Wisc doesn't accept secondaries until Sunday, Northwestern hasn't sent mine yet). Still, seeing people land interview invites is making me nervous. I'd love for some schools to get back to me, but the earliest I completed ANY application was probably around August 3rd. So, I should probably get used to the wait.

Yeah, the waiting sucks, and is stressful. I hate the idea of being stuck in an electronic queue, waiting to be judged by someone, and then rejected. 🙁

Hahaha, I feel like I'm rushing a fraternity, with a bunch of bros discussing my MCAT, GPA, and ECs over a keg of beer (with my picture on the projector screen).

I wouldn't doubt adcoms doing the same with bottles of wine.

Wine? Pft, I bet they have a walk-in refrigerator stacked with cheap beer (Natty, Keystone or what have you 😛)

I've been to California a few times to visit family there - it's kind of my ideal place (minus the costs of living, but otherwise..awesome). But I agree, living somewhere new for medical school would be really cool and a worthwhile opportunity if it appears.

The only thing holding me back from living in Cali forever is the traffic. They really need to invest in urban transit, it would make the cities SO MUCH more fun and cooler.
 
There are no subways there? I love taking the subway when I'm in NYC. You see all sorts of weird characters, and it's different every time. 😀

Has anyone noticed a pattern of II's coming out on any particular day of the week, Fridays say? I'm trying to just allocate 1 day of the week to pre-med anxiety, rather than 24/7.

Yes. Yes. Yes. One of the freeways I drive on to comute home regularly takes me ~30 minutes to go 3 miles........

That is God awful. To be sure, I-95 gets a bit clogged around here, but it never seems that severe comparatively. haha

It's pretty awesome to go on it whenever I visit family there. And this one is one of the smallest flyover/connector sections.
