Class of 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Speaking of in n out, has anyone ordered a rootbeer float from them? The employees there HATE making them due to their tendency to explode, but it tastes delicious!

I hear Cars Land is AMAZING! But it's in California Adventure, so you'd have to dish out some more money to access both parks (although world of color is in California Adventure too and thats definitely worth it!) I keep telling myself that I'll put off another Disneyland trip with my gf until I get an interview at a So. Cal school, but since that doesn't seem to be happening I'm probably going to drive/fly down anyhow and enjoy it one last time before I force us to relocate cross country

That's cool. I'll have to look into that. I have not done any of the planning for the trip so we might already have those tickets for California adventure.

I bought First Aid for Step 1 today. Lol.

Now, before I get all of the snarky comments about how it's too early, let me explain.

I used First Aid during my SMP and that's how I scored higher than the M1 average on my exams, as well as in the classes. I use FA as a study guide and its worked well.

It is kinda early to buy it, but I've got nothing else going on until August. Lol. I'm going to be extremely prepared so I don't drown during week 1! 😉

You know, that's odd: I never once ordered a float.
Lol. I should have been more creative.
LoL, don't sweat it. Artistic creativity isn't usually a physician's strong suit.

You will give your FA a girl/guy's name, because until Step 1 this is the only &$#@% you people are going to get!

Your days of %&#-&%$ing ol' Mary-Jane Rotten$&#% through her purdy-pink-panties are OVER!

You're married to this piece. This weapon of sustainably-recycled-paper and high-yield color illustrations. And you will be faithful!

A port, hut! 😡

The First Aid Creed
This is my FA.
There are many others like it, but this one is mine.
My FA is my best friend.
It is my life.
I must master it as I must master my life.
Without me, my FA is useless.
Without my FA, I am useless.

I must read my FA true.
I must annotate it more extensively than my gunner friend who is trying to match in rads.
I must read it twice and finish UWorld with scores trending into the 80s before he does.
I will.

Before God I swear this is my creed: my FA and myself are defenders of my Step I score.
We are the masters of the high yields, we are the saviors of my CV.
So be it, until there are no more practice questions, but peace.
Amen.

Anyone know of any good autobiographies/biographies pioneers in Neurology/Neuroscience reseach?

Bahahahaha!!! Exactly how I felt during the SMP. I can only imagine med school is 10x worse!

Although, I expect to get plenty *^%#+& in Med school. Haha. No pink panties tho. That ish is for the ugrads. 🙂

Aww, c'mon, I actually love me some pink briefs on chicks. I don't know why, but I dig.

Oliver Sacks is my personal fav neurologist author, but not so much an auto-bio of a pioneer.
^ lol, someone's been in the military.
Or someone loves Full Metal Jacket by Stanley Kubrick, like mois. 🙂

Hallucinations is on my list of books to get (doing research). Have you read that one? Any of his you personal recommend?

No, I've not yet picked that one up, but wholly intend to do so before starting med school. I'm currently on Our Daily Meds by Peterson, a rather angry read. I'd definitely recomment Awakenings, a little more sad, or The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat, a little more silly and happy.

I just finished a book called "En Route: A paramedics stories of life, death, and everything between" by Steven "Kelly" Grayson. I found it to be entertaining and eye opening. Then again, my firsthand clinical knowledge is pretty much nil. Still, I'd recommend it. Although be warned, he swears a fair amount if that bothers anyone.

Now I'm looking for more interesting "biography" type books in a medical setting.

Random question, where do you guys find your gifs/pics. I haven't bothered trying to post any up to this point, but I'm feeling particularly bored today. 😏:meanie:

Reading a book recommended to me by one of my interviewers, lol. Not medically related, but it is a pretty enjoyable read.

I am currently reading...nothing related to medicine. Maybe I need to jump on this bandwagon.

Boo. I plan to keep my pleasure reading unrelated to medicine.

Also, I really hope Michigan picks things up or this is going to be an embarrassing game...

if you like Oliver Sacks, might I also suggest "An Anthropologist on Mars" I read that for a neuro class, and Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat for another neuro class.

Oh snap! I just got called in to run a blood bank stat for work! Time to go drive for 5 hrs. 😀

I just wanna say, you guys/gals all rock! I'm so happy to finally be a part of a cohort. I'll join the fb group as soon as I know where I'm going: referrals abound, lol. And I'm totally down to seriously meet all of you. We have a great bunch. 🙂

I definitely will have to try that. Go there all the time, never have ordered one. 🙂

Sent from my Nexus 7 using SDN Mobile

Starting to regret scheduling an interview tomorrow...about to leave for the airport. FML.
