I'm officially getting old. I found my first gray hair. Damn, I was hoping to make it to 30 before that happened.
Nothing is static. Even the Mona Lisa is falling apart.

Well, we all (including him) knew it was coming. Any idea what put him over the edge?

Totally made a new signature for MedPR. Too bad it won't show up here because I already have posted on this page. Just scroll up to see it if it doesn't show up.
And with his ban, I am taking a break from SDN for a while. I never had a problem with MedPR. I liked his funny little comments.
SDN has gotten really serious these past couple of weeks.
I agree and from the MedPR's ban and the volatility of the preallo lounge thread, I don't think it's safe to post as casually as we did before. For that reason, I have to downsize my activity and presence on SDN.

I say we move to the preallo lounge thread, but the atmosphere on that thread is already kinda jacked.
Sad that there can't be some middle ground between the moderation here and the total free for all of the lounge.
+inf.
For that very reason, i'm going to localize my activity only on the class threads from now on. It's best to steer clear from all the heated threads
"Derailing of threads" nor is "derailing" even mentioned in the ToS. It says to stay on topic, but the ToS seem to suggest that it means with where you post. It says, "Posts which do not relate to the original purpose or topic of the thread may be moved to a more appropriate location." Well, I have never seen a mod move an individual post. I have seen them move threads, but not posts. So does the ToS even apply to "derailing?"
Sounds like a riot's a'brewin'
Since the time the new sticky was created and enforced, the TOS has been modified (at least indirectly) to include the provisions of the new sticky. Anyhow, I definitely agree that it is unsafe to post on non-class/non-school-specific threads without being extra careful.
But they can't enforce that because it doesn't say anything in the ToS that included is the sticky nor did they send out an email saying they were updating the ToS.
We haven't agreed to anything in that sticky that you are referring to. Nothing in that sticky has been added to the ToS.
That's why I think the ban of MedPR is unjustified and stupid. Until they add it to the ToS, the sticky doesn't mean anything.
Anyhow, what's done is done, so let that be a lesson to all of us. Let's not anger the mods even further by questioning their actions, since that's the violation of the privacy protection.
what rule did he break in the ToS other than the sticky?
There has been a lot of turmoil on SDN this weekend.
That's none of our business to know. MedPR may have violated the TOS in other aspects, but frankly, we shouldn't know or even care about it as that's the violation of the nondisclosure agreement.
I am not asking to find out. I was more saying it in shock and a rhetorical question.
I think I just need to take a break to cool down. MedPR got banned, not me.
I completely understand your frustration and it's upsetting MedPR got banned despite his contribution to the forums.
To ease off the discontent:

True facts: Once during an interview lunch SDN came up and someone said "Who is that MedPR guy? How does anyone have time to make 10,000 posts??"
hilarious.
Indeed, and that got aggravated in a much larger scale due to that preallo lounge thread.
Lol. So glad I didn't touch that.
First off, congrats and welcome aboard. Yup, that's correct. Some will also continue research they've already started before M1 either during M1 or during that summer.New to this thread.
When do people typically get started with research then? I don't LOVE research, but want to get some done for interest and residency sake (hoping to get more involved than I was at Ugrad if you know what I'm sayin').
From what I hear, it seems like most students wait till the dust has settle during first year, and begin in the summer following year 1. Is that correct?
Wow, that's horrible! I'm sorry. 🙁View attachment 22813
Pics from my deployment. This is the city in which I did my undergrad. These pics are of what is left of our local chapter building. :-(
Yup, I'm dreading leaving all of my friends, including people I've known for over 15 years for an entirely new city. I'll only have familiar people if I end up at my back-up school.Yea that's the way it seems.
Anyone here nervous/anxious about moving to a brand new city and start from scratch?
When I moved to my undregrad institution adapting to the new place and starting from 0 friends was a bit of a challenge. Didn't think about this so much when I applied to med school, but now it is starting to sink in and I'm feeling a little anxious about it!![]()
Well, it's a bit different for me. I tend to put people off with my tattoo sleeves and penchant for obscure and morbid media preferences... But I'm a teddy bear on the inside, as you can all see.Exactly what he said. The common interest thing makes it so much easier.

Hahaha, yeah, I don't doubt that he came up at mutliple interview days. That kind of prolific posting will boggle the minds of many fellow SDNers.True facts: Once during an interview lunch SDN came up and someone said "Who is that MedPR guy? How does anyone have time to make 10,000 posts??"
Epic +1For MedPR

To start off, RIP MedPR. I wonder if his signature ("favorite pre-banned SDNer" by Winged Scapula) is still active on his initial posts...so weird now that it happened.
