Class of 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
My last semester....

Assassin's Creed through the ages
The Korean War - Part Deux
Advanced Call of Duty Black Ops 2
Soju Drinking Survival ( w/ lab at the Uijeongbu clubs)
Wii Sports Aerobics

😀 i.e. working and goofing off in my free time.

Video games for your last semester? You're doing it right...

Is that the rice wine that looks like apple juice? I think I like it better too, but the soju kettle fits better with a group/club environment. I just wish they had some decent microbrews here. I don't live in Seoul (about an hour or so by train) so it's much harder to find those here.

Yup, it's great for dinner. Soju is alright, I just don't drink it that often.

But I might be hitting up South Korea this summer - maybe that'll change. :naughty:

I like this one. Can we keep him?

I'm not in school anymore, but I did actually start playing my senior year. I had overload freshman-junior year in high level courses so I was knocking out requirements which mostly consisted of 100, 200 classes. One of the guys in the dorm house I lived in had pretty much every system so he shared with everybody in the common room.

I really like the new Assassin's Creed. I hadn't played any of the others, but I bought it on a whim and really enjoyed it. Now I'm just getting my perfect completion on the game.

COW: Black Ops 2 not as much of a fan. I think the main appeal for the COD franchises is the lack of cerebral power necessary, but BO2 seems to require some coordination and brain power (at least for the strike force levels). If I wanted to play Rainbow Six, I would have bought it, lol.

I play none of these. My console of choice is SNES and I play super Mario. Lol.

I have an Xbox 360 with kinect that I use for two games ONLY: Dance Central and Halo. Lol.

Missed out on this discussion last night... was too busy playing video games and then watching The Walking Dead.

Senior year.. I think I took two classes my final semester... Adventures in day drinking.

Good morning everyone!

Orchids are awesome. I hope that you all had great weekends. I've only read a few posts since Friday at ~3:00pm... my condolescences to those of you that lost anyone lately.

Let's have a mindful Monday (or at least that is my current goal).

BO2 = multiplayer only. what is this single player you speak of

Dying. This is awesome.

Hahaha, nice!
I want to be in the military. I want my career to be focused on humanitarian medicine (will be getting my MPH as well). I want to do medicine in 3rd world countries in tents. I want to work in a fantastic team. I want the mil to toughen me up, lol. It seems like it would never get boring. I want to do GenSu probably, but not sure. Also, the scholarship is attractive, but by no means a determining factor. Getting less pay than civ docs isn't important to me either. I don't mind moving a lot. Ill do my mil time then leave.

I don't want to lose my freedom to choose my own career. I don't want to get a subpar residency training. I don't want to die in the middle easy from a mortar. I don't want a nurse to be my boss. I'm afraid I couldn't handle it, but at the same time, I know I could.

I'm just so conflicted.
Many of the same cons that dissuaded me, but most of all it was my tattoos. They wanted me to edit a couple of my tattoos, citing one as "too violent." I really wanted to do mil med, but wasn't going to alter one of my most prized tattoos. I was very surprised that was an issue/

^This probably applies in your situation.
LoL
Or get this book off of Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Go-F-Sleep-Adam-Mansbach/dp/145584165X

I'm not in this class, but best of luck to everyone! I hope you all get in this cycle! :luck:
Dude, that sounds hilarious!
I woke up and landed in some girl's bedroom. As I was escaping, I fell down the staircase, broke two vases and dashed towards the door... :scared:
Epic. I so wish we had a video of this.

I love talking about myself!

Yeah, I'm a non-trad. I'm 29, been married almost 6 years and we've got a 3yr old daughter. I guess that's non-trad

I got into western university's osteopathic program in Lebanon Oregon if that's what you were wondering.
We should so hang out one day before class starts if I end up at OHSU.
I kind of.. ruined my friend's bathroom one night... Don't remember much of it.
I ended up getting so drunk one night in high school that I couldn't find the toilet and pooped in my best friend's tub. Talk about a hilarious morning. Also? I wooed my ex wife with this story on our first date back when I was 19. Result? Married. LoL
The past two days I have almost been murdered on the freeway at least 4 times. Who lets some of these people have drivers licenses... The worst was yesterday someone came up behind me going 90+ mph, sped around me, then went in front of me and slammed on his brakes hard and then sped off and did the same thing to an 18 wheeler. I was probably within an inch of hitting him....???
I don't miss SoCal traffic, at all. It's really the only reason I don't think I'll move back permanently. 🙁
Oh hangover stories!! My worst was a few months ago during a friends birthday party. I hadn't eaten all day and so decided that 5 shots of tequila, 4 glasses of wine, one beer, and some other sort of alcohol that I had at a bar would be a great source of nutrition 🙄 I woke up drunk the next day and vomited til like 3pm and my whole body ached until like 7. I vomited to the point the lining of my stomach became inflamed and it burned to eat anything.

Memories 😳
I had a friend come into work one day with an insanely red face with tons of broken capillaries, looked like he went through a meat grinder. He ended up puking so much the night before that he blew his facial capillaries. I was dumbfounded and felt so bad for the fella. That's a huge sign you might want to consider sobriety. :/
So... Would anyone be interested in doing a fireside chat with accepted class of 2017? I think this is a good and fun idea.

Honestly, we can merge the questions I get into one large fireside chat. I'd be down.
Ah cool.

Yeah, I think that's a great idea. Admissions has been brutal this year. It could give next year's class something to go off of.

I'm in.

Edit: have a link to the last one?

'Marnin beautiful! Yep, same here.

Aaaaaaaaand, caught up!

Why would NY schools have second-looks THE SAME WEEKEND? ARE THEY INSANE?!!?

NOTE: To any medical school admin lurkers, I do not actually think you are insane. Just exaggerating.

Sincerely,
Medical 'Don't Rescind My Acceptance' Author

Happy Monday everyone! We are all one week closer to being MS1's.

Discovered a new carrot and pineapple wheat bread recipe.

Verdict: Deliciousness.

Was just informed that one of my second-author papers was accepted for publication in the Journal of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery. I've had three abstracts accepted for conference presentations, but this is going to be my first publication! So excited! 😀

wow, congrats buddy. Are you heading to a research heavy med school this fall?

lol... I actually heard a kid say this on a chair lift the other day. It caught me off guard. Kids these days.
LoL
What's up with North Korea? Why are they so damn angry?
Steroid abuse? Delusions? Both? Who knows, but I feel ya.
Yup... I'm trying to utilize the google and find out more about it. I'm not coming up with much other than what I already posted though.
Hmm, I guess I should check it out.
I actually give zero effs.

EDIT: Also, Guero needs to get his ass on the FB group so I can stalk him and check out these alleged tattoos.

Hahaha, not until I know where I'm going. I don't even know why it matters, anymore. Maybe I'm just trying to stick to my guns, my original desire to wait... You can PM me the link and I might join at some random moment before being locked into a particular schcool. 😉

I like that, I think that I will start saying "the google" from now on. It sounds more professional 😛

Also, I like the non-profit idea more... plus, med schools are subsidized by the public right?

Many, but not all. GWU is so expensive because they receive NO funding, entirely tuition-funded.

You have to be friends with either myself or Tots on FB before we can add you. It's a "secret" group, so you kind of have to be in with the cool kids.

50K huh? Kind of crazy...
I could've sworn it was more than that... But with a $20k CoL added, that might be correct. Either way, they're in the top 10 of the most expensive medical schools. Howard is the only med school in DC that is allocated funding other than tuition. My interviewer at GWU said it had something to do with "all they've done for medicine." I still haven't used the google ( :naughty: ) to educate myself regarding what he meant. :nono:

Feel free to PM me your fb link. My privacy settings are super secret. That way you can at least see before I join the group. 😉
