Class of 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
No fun at all.

I had to get two titers, on for hep B and one for varicella. The dumb thing is the doctor wrote the orders wrong and forgot to tell them to do both at the same time. Hence, I had to go to another doctor to get the orders for a hep B titer and poked again.

Just one more tb test here. That TDAP vaccine gave me a fever for a day!

Ugh my roommate cashed my rent check before the date I wrote on it and now I have a sizable negative amount in my checking account. It's ridiculous how expensive overdraft fees are.

The struggle is real.

Oh wow, you win for real struggles. Overdraft protection, FTW.

I know that feel. I did my first PPD test and got it read 48 hours later....the school wanted the first one read 7 days after it was placed. Needless to say, I have to start over hahaha

Time for some vigilante justice.

Seriously? The guy's a jerk.

I should probably look in to this. Or switch to a bank with a cheaper overdraft fee.
And what an inattentive bank clerk. 😡 Sucks bro.
Yeah, that's what I thought at first. Then I found out it's not illegal to do, although most banks won't do it. The culprit was an ATM 👎

I'm thinking something along these lines:

The struggles. What a d-bag.
In all fairness, she's about 400 miles away right now and I probably should have reemphasized that I don't get paid until the first of each month. I dated the check for 6/1 and so I thought it wouldn't be cashable... live and learn I guess.

Hahaha, I love her reaction! It looked like she was trying to limbo under an invisible bar. LoL

Wow traffic is awful today.

everyone's back at work I guess--I was pleasantly surprised yesterday that traffic was light for my morning commute.

5 more working days until my vacation!!!!

That's what I had thought too. I don't think any bank would have cashed it, but ATMs don't check for dates. I called my bank and confirmed that this is legitimate:

http://www.law.cornell.edu/ucc/4/4-401.html

Basically the date on a check is only an agreement between the check-writer and the recipient, so if it's deposited a bank can legally still process it (which seems insane to me). That means my account is going to be overdrawn three more times unless I can find a way to stop the transaction.

So it looks like I can pay $30 for a stop payment, or I can do nothing and pay $100ish in overdraft fees. I'm hoping there's a third option of stopping it without paying anything, but I kind of doubt that will be possible. I asked my roommate to call and see if the bank will pause the transaction until the date of the check, but I'm guessing they'll tell her they can't do anything.

Anyway, learn from my mistake guys. It is perfectly legal to cash a post-dated check, despite the fact that it's completely counterintuitive.

A FedEx truck crashed and I guess erupted in flames and closed all southbound lanes of I-5 in Seattle from like 4-9 AM. All the streets here are parking lots. My 20 minute commute is going to be 1.5 hours. 😳

They are probably doing a 2-step testing

e.g. "What is a two-step PPD test?
• Thomas Jefferson University and Hospitals
require new employees and students to
have a two-step PPD.
• A second PPD is placed 7 days after the
first test.
• The two-step PPD helps to reduce the
incidence of false negative tests. It helps
remind the immune system of previous
exposures (booster phenomenon) and helps
tell if you have an old or new exposure.

Yep thats it! The reason I got it read 48 hours later was because the DO school I was going to matriculate at only required that. When i got my MD acceptance they wanted the one you mention haha

I felt sort of obligated to show up since we're going to happy hour today to celebrate my last day of work tomorrow.

Technically it is 2 PPD tests (same test twice), 7 days apart. My 2nd year fellowship is on TB 🙂

I may be getting screwed out of money for no reason, but I just found an iPhone and found the guy it belonged to. If only I could use my good karma points to pay off overdraft fees.

One can only hope.......

Maybe the good karma can come at the bar? Free drinks?

Greetings from Barca. Toast with EVOO/tomato, Spanish charcuterie (salami, cheese, etc), grilled octopus and PAELLA for dinner! And Sangria.

That's 19 days of consecutive drinking. I fear for my liver.

Sometime in the next 5 days I am going to find out if I won a really large (~12k per year) scholarship. I feel like my head is going to explode. It's like being a post-interview med school applicant all over again. I can't stop checking my phone...

Hope you get it!

Can you imagine life before email, or better yet, telephones?!

Applying to med school was so complicated back then. One MD/PhD student told me everything had to be sent in via snail mail. Imagine sending in your primary and secondary apps by mail, then waiting for phone calls to tell you that you've been selected for an interview.

My mom told me that when you needed to register for courses in college, you had to stand in a 3-6 hour line to do so on one particular day.

It was essentially the Stone Ages back then.

I've heard the whole "hard copy" med school application horror story. Yuck.

But on the other hand, it was a lot easier to get into med school in the olden days (i.e. The 90s). Wasn't the average GPA/MCAT of a matriculant around 3.4/28?

I hate applying for scholarships in the mail because I am paranoid that try won't actually be delivered. I would die not knowing if my primary actually made it.

I am doing HIPAA lessons right now. This is so stupid/easy it is ridiculous.

Last day of work tomorrow.
