Class of 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I agree, at least it is straight forward. A breath of fresh air compared to some other classes.
A breath of fresh air? Not at my school with their horrible ventilation system! Seriously, that POS was installed in like the 70s and doesn't do much for the smell. All the other regional sites have way newer systems but we are stuck with the crappy one.

I guess that phrase is a bit inappropriate to describe an anatomy lab. Haha!

One semester of Med School and I have officially surpassed the total number of flashcards I made for the MCAT...by 3X 🙁

200 cards to get through tonight. I am so happy this site introduced me to flash cards. I don't think I would have made it without.

Haha, yeah I think I have a love-hate relationship with mine. I hate them but gosh darn it, they work brilliantly.

What are you using?

I would also like to know this. I know many use Anki, but I tried it and didn't really like the interface.
I am currently using studyblue. Seems to work pretty well for my purposes.

Anki, it took a little while to get the hang of it.

Try listening to sound clips of the different lung and heart sounds online. Makes it much easier

And still not as bad as trying to identify the different stages of erythoblasts in a bone marrow smear. :dead:

This was my lowest histo grade. The different stages of all blood cells were hard to distinguish. Lymphatics wasn't bad, but the immunology was killer.

When in doubt, neutrophilic myelocyte.

I'm so glad I don't have to remember that for the final (it was midterm material).

I heard a kid's S3 sound. Well, I thought he farted at first until someone told me it was S3, that still counts, right?

Of course it does!

The best is obstructed bowel sounds. I was in disbelief the whole time!

My mind is blown at the kind of things med school makes you all do. Our med school is kind of like 200-level bio. But not 200-level chem, that was harder. My work ethic has slipped a looong way since I started here.

Metabolism is my favorite. Here's why:

Phosphorylation of phosphoprotein phosphatase inhibitor 1 inhibits phosphorylation of phosphoprotein phosphatase 1 which inhibits dephosphorylation of glycogen phosphorylase.

Yeah, I kind of agree except there is way more information but at the same time less, if that makes any sense.

Having it be pass/fail with no honors really lets my work ethic slip even more. Apparently next quarter is when things go crazy. But that is only 22 credits compared to the (I think) 39 I took this quarter.

We didn't cover that. Too bad :-(

Just wait... it'll come up. Probably when you cover cancer genetics. We had to start with all of that super fun signaling stuff which was terrible.

Edit: maybe you covered it and they called it MEK/ERK? The worst part about studying that stuff is that everything has multiple arbitrary names.

Nah. Idk, I'm sure I'll see it eventually.

It's kind of weird how everyone at this point has pretty much covered different things. When I talk to friends who are MS1s at different schools, they've covered things I've never heard of, and vice versa. It's also weird having a lot of knowledge about something like cardio/renal/pulmonary physiology while knowing almost nothing about neuro/endocrine/GI.

What kind of system are you on? I've learned almost zero physio. On the other hand, I know the mechanism of action of about 50 drugs and every chromosomal disease that's in FA.

Basically a block system where each block covers a specific organ or set of organs (e.g. neuro, GI). We cover all of the histology/physio/pathophysio/anatomy etc for each system each block.

Ah ok that makes sense. We don't do systems until MS2. MS1 is anatomy, biochem, cell bio, etc.

Greetings from Philly!

I got sick and I can't focus on anything. Biochem final in less than 2 hours...P=MD I guess.

Holy ****! You can swear on SDN now????

So... "****" is censored but "****s" is not. Okay that makes a whole lot of sense.
Yeah, it's bull**** right?

Edit: wow, it does autochange bulls*** to bullcrap apparently though.

Is using profanity against the TOS?

Interesting.

Yeah, after I received my one and only, I made darn sure I knew the TOS. 🙁

Ok, I got rid of the post. I was unaware that we were such a civilized bunch. I would say I DGAF, but I already got one warning for being mean to someone that made a homophobic comment in reference to HIV treatment during the great April fool CAM Forum debacle.
