Yeah, I had a lot of migraines like that when I was younger. Thought there was something wrong with my brain, but MRIs were clean. And then I got glasses and it didn't help so I stopped wearing glasses after awhile 😛 Anyway, kill that FL!!!👍

This is what happens to me. Except like someone describes below the video it's crescent shaped and it starts in the center, grows and moves out to my peripheral vision. I don't get migraines afterward by any means just very very minor headaches. When they start to happen it's how I know I haven't been getting enough sleep.

Wow dude, that's EXACTLY what happens to me!!! It's really disturbing, especially when you're trying to take an exam, haha. Are you taking Topamax for it? I actually do get a migraine headache after my vision loss, and I totally get the peripheral vision loss right after the scotoma. The episode lasts about 45 minutes in total.

Just finished Physical Sciences. Definitely very Solutions heavy... don't know how it went. Don't feel like I bombed it, but there was one passage that made NOOOOOO sense whatsoever. It was the first PS I've actually finished in a long, long time haha!

On to Verbal!

Haha don't stress. I thought I failed that PS too...it was weird! But it turned out well. And I know which passage you are talking about probably. That was out of nowhere!
 
This headache needs to go away...why is everyone having a headache today 😛

Nope I'm not taking any medication for it because mine only last 45 minutes too and no significant pain/discomfort follows. The first time it happened to me was in a math class senior year of HS. I thought I was going blind! :laugh:

They only started happening again this year because I was consistently sleep-deprived. It took me a while to figure out what was causing them.
The coolest part was self-diagnosing myself. I'd start loosing my vision then get excited because I could try to figure out what the heck was going on with me 🙂 I realized it wasn't an eye problem when I'd close either one and the vision loss would persist. That's when I knew my brain was letting me down haha

It sucks that you're having this problem 🙁 but it's really awesome that you're getting chances to self diagnose yourself 😀
 
Hmmmm verbal was kind of hard, I thought 😳. There was this psychology passage that totally threw me because I was rushing a bit. Oh well.

GooseWing and mohad: you're both going to TOTALLY PWN the MCAT in 19 hours!!! And you'll be out of your misery 2 weeks before me and Tots 👍

Which AAMC are you taking now? And what date is your and tot's test?
Yeah those sound like solid reasons to take Topamax. How's it working?

I'm taking AAMC 8 right now, just finished the first Writing Sample prompt lol (I finished with 13 minutes to spare... I hope these essays are of acceptable quality). I'm getting tired though, BS needs to come sooner 🙁
Our test date is 9/2! Too soon, too soon!

The Topamax is working meh-ly, I'll probably have to increase the dosage a little, my neurologist put me on a tiny dose so he expected to have to increase it a bit.

And why are so many of these MCAT essays about politics? Seriously, we're pre-MED.

Haha I hope not! I get super weird headaches. They ALWAYS last EXACTLY 3 days. No Joke. 3 days on the dot. Usually they are tolerable if I stay away from caffeine though. My father, my brother and I can't do any decent amount of caffeine without getting messed up....I ended up in the hospital the only time I drank a full cup of coffee 😀

I got destroyed by that psychology passage. I was running out time so I rushed through it only to get destroyed.

9/2 is not soon enough! I am ready now! Though I have never written an essay....I always skip it ^^. I a formula I am going to follow and don't feel like writing them most of the time 🙁

I ended up doing the essay section for most all of my FLs just because I felt like the extra hour in between verbal and BS would probably impact how I performed somehow so I decided to suffer through those terribly annoying sections hah
 
Yeah omg, these essays are so freaking annoying to write. I just finished my second essay with 17 minutes to spare, hahaha. I may or may not have written about "social networking sites". Facebook ftw!

The only reason I do it is because I want to make sure I take the BS section with the WS under my belt: I don't want to feel overwhelmed on Test Day when I get bombarded by two essays and then all of a sudden have to do this huge 70-minute section.

But now I have an extra 15-minute break from this stupid essay! 😛

Yeah I'm expecting like 0/6 on that psychology passage, it was so ridiculous. I was like... Y U NO MAKE SENSE. I felt like I was learning, and not acquiring (LOL), the language used in that passage. Stupid Verbal.

Ahhhhhh BS soon 😳
 
Hahahaha, caffeine really messes me up too. I get a super-crazy case of anxiety whenever I drink a substantial amount of it, and feel like the world is going to end even though I'm fully aware of the fact that there is absolutely no reason for me to feel that way. Once the caffeine wears off, I feel totally normal. I NEVER feel that way unless I have caffeine. It's so weird.

Oh, and I get major migraines from caffeine. Wooo. All-nighters just don't happen for me, lol.

OH THAT PASSAGE. I actually did ok(not amazing though) on that one. I got destroyed on the other one...behaviorism.. apparently I missed the major point. More like I was day dreaming about something and then realized Oh Hey....end of passage! ...Wait what happened?

Haha...That is why I ended up the hospital. Drink Cup of Coffee...get lightheaded...2 hours later can't breathe, can't feel hands, can't feel face, start throwing up....Normally I just get headaches but apparently the caffeine gave me an anxiety attack?? Anyways...it sucked because I was driving my friend to a concert for her birthday and ended up having to call an ambulance half way there 😳

I don't do all nighters anyways though....I value my sleep like no other. Sleep Deprived Tatertots is kinda insane. Just ask my residents. They keep trying to videotape me sleep deprived.

How much time did you actually get in between sections? (10 minutes - check in/out and such). Also, what were all the things you had to do to check in/out?

We got 10 mins between each section. makes sure you use the bathroom if you have to. Don't wait until the last minute to do so cuz those 10 mins sure runs fast lol. Anyway, get some rest and eat a nice breakfast before going into the exam. Relax and you'll be fine. good luck.
