I was going to call my school hospital for a volunteering spot, but I think i'll just wait until after my MCAT.

Haha. It always feels good to have the adrenaline going, but that's when I make stupid mistakes...like gambling away all my money 😛

Hahaha yeah that's the worst part. What I do is I cash out the initial money I put in once I make some profit, so I am esentially playing with casino's money after.

I was planning on doing something in the nursing department. The description showed a lot of patient interaction. Or may peds if I can play with some kids 🙂

Yeah you'll get tons of patient interaction at the nursing department for sure... Uhh I could never do peds. I don't like kids 😀
 
I definitely have to grab lots of food for saturday+sunday so I don't have to leave my dorm. I bet if I ordered food the delivery guy would get pissed off in the storm. :laugh:

I'm afraid I would get really annoyed at the kids after awhile...Probably best if I don't ruin it by doing peds. I was also thinking about volunteering at a nursing home, but idk.

Yeah, the remnants of hurricane Irene are supposed to hit NYC/Long Island and everything else in the path on Sunday. So instead of going back to school sunday, they're letting us go saturday. 🙁 I wish I could finish Ramadan at home

ADRENALINE IS THE MAIN NEUROTRANSMITTER FOR THE SYMPATHETIC NERVOUS SYSTEM, which is the "fight or flight" response, which is mediated by the adrenal medulla. Adrenaline is a powerful vasoconstrictor, binding to receptors on the smooth muscle wrapped around arteries and arterioles, constricting them and having two major effects: increasing blood pressure and rerouting blood towards areas of the body that are needed while "fighting/flighting", such as the muscles and the heart, as opposed to the digestive and excretory systems. The sympathetic nervous system is part of the autonomic nervous system.

Large arteries have a smaller smooth muscle to volume ratio than medium arteries and arterioles, meaning that they are less sensitive to vasoconstricting effects from things like epinephrine, and are less elastic. Veins, unlike arteries, are not wrapped by smooth muscle, instead relying on the pumping of the heart, contraction of skeletal muscle, and valves to keep the (mostly deoxygenated) blood flowing.

"physics for the utterly confused" is really good im using it as a supplement, you can get it for a few bucks on amazon.

Don't freak out. You're gonna do awesome. Plus it sounds like you have an awesome study buddy. 😀 I think cardiovascular system is sorta confusing too, glad I'm not the only one. I'm gonna have to review that and nephron filtration and immune system like hard in the winter.
