Ah I see... perhaps it could be a regional thing too? The hospitals I see action in are in cities with alot of crime (Miami / Jacksonville).

Most of the nurses were super busy and ignored most of the volunteers. After awhile though I had good rapport with a few techs and nurses. It was great because when anything happened they made sure I had a clear view. Which was great until I saw someone die 🙁

The most fun I had was when a tech took me around the hospital so that we could "acquire"(steal) pillows for the ED. He showed me all the secret locations that the other departments kept pillows in and how to avoid getting caught. A lot of hilarious situations ensued especially because some of the departments hid pillows in the bathrooms.

It sounds like you guys got to do some fun things/see some interesting stuff though. The most interesting part of my job was the one-on-one time with the patients, so I got to see a lot from their perspective, but not much from the physician's. More shadowing to do I guess. 😛

Sorry you saw someone die. I saw some people in awful shape, but I don't think I ever saw a death. At least not closely...there was this one time, but everyone was being so hectic, I didn't see much of what was going on. Guess that's part of the job though. 🙁

Ugh I'm having this horrible stomach problem that's lasting multiple days, and generally feeling like crap. Also, this hurricane business is kind of annoying because my friend who's staying with me for the week won't be able to fly in, and she'll be stuck either in Delhi or New York City (I hope it's the latter...)

And I love the peeps on this thread! There's literally not a single douche, it's wonderful. 😀

😍 Love ya too! I hope you feel better and hope your friend has a safe flight! Hurricanes do suck though...
