Class of 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
How did everyone's finals go? Needed a 96 in physiology and got a 92, ended up with an 89.1625 average in the class...crapppppp! Also got a B in biomechanics, final exam grades weren't posted so I emailed the professor and asked what's up....dropped down from a 3.71 to a 3.68 🙁

I got my grades.. 4 A's 🙂 and... 1 B+:eyebrow:.....:boom:

Turns out the whole class got curved 😱😱 The average for the class was a B+! That's insane!!!! All my classes in the past have had averages of like C+/B- 😱 The same prof taught phy1 and the average was like a C+! I'm just so happy it worked out so wondefully! I ended up doing pretty good on my final 🙂 Now the waiting for the rest of my classes :scared::scared:

You should definitely talk to them and get some awesome experience over break! And I 😍 you!
nice! Good job!🙂

Just droppin' in to say hi to fellow 2017ers. Still waiting for this semester's final grades to come in...wish me luck!

Wooooooo! Done with my last final, finally. I still have only gotten one grade back; I got an A in endocrinology, which is cool, I guess. 😎

Now I dunno what to do with myself since I don't have a stupid amount of homework. Guess I'll go play some Mass Effect lol.

👍👍

Happy whatever you celebrate, however you celebrate it, wherever you celebrate it 😀

Well, just finished AAMC 3 and ended up with a 13/10/9 😎

On the plus side, I rocked the PS section (13), which was definitely my weakness when I started studying at the beginning of the fall. Orgo went well. Also, I was frustrated during verbal and still got 32/40, so almost an 11? :xf:

Bio killed me though. Nailed every one of my weak spots and had none of my strengths.

It's also discouraging since I know AAMC 3 is the easiest, and it's also furthest from the real thing. Guess all I can do is some analysis tomorrow and get back on the grind.

That sounds really good to me. It's your first practice test and you've got plenty of room for improvement. So even though they get harder I'm sure you'll do better on the later tests. 👍👍

How is everyone?

I'm a few days behind on my MCAT studies because of illnesses and impromptu family vacations, but this is why I started almost a month early. Hopefully I can get back on track though and not fall any further behind...

Hey im going to start studying for the MCAT in a few weeks, im taking it early May. what are some tips for studying????

so we all will be applying this coming cycle and this is our last semester before applying. do any of y'all feel the pressure????? what do y'all plan to do this semester to finish strong???

Definitely feeling the pressure!!!
I'm just trying to make an impact in the ECs that I do and continue volunteering like I have in the past. The only drastic change that I'm really making is locking myself in the library on Friday and Saturday nights to study for the MCAT any my other classes. I'm really pushing for that 4.0 this semester.

Hmm...my tips would probably be:

- Start earlier than you intend, because time flies
- Use BR for physics, gen chem, and orgo, EK for bio
- Find out how you study best long-term (ex: some people need a strict schedule, while I just need a rough schedule with some time-line goals)
- I don't have any tips on verbal, I've been stuck at a 10 for months

Good luck with the studying! I'm off to take AAMC 4 in a couple hours.

I hope everyone had a Happy New Year! 2012 is certainly going to be a very busy year for us.

Thanks for the tips. I definitely will be starting earlier than expected!

Thanks! Can't say that I'll argue with my scores --> 13/12/14 (39)

Holy crap, dude! Looks like your hard work is finally paying off!!! That's an amazing score!!! 👍👍 Just keep going at that pace and you will kill it on test day! 😀

Thanks! Hopefully this test wasn't just a fluke 😛

Does anyone else just want this semester to start and end already??? All I can think about is starting my med school applications and get the ball rolling.

Hopefully I won't be eating my words in a few months lolol

Hm, I've been using EK review books and the 1001 series to study. Maybe I'll switch over to TBR now.

I somewhat agree. I am scared at the same time though haha.

I'm loving TBR, I definitely feel prepared for the sciences. Stick with EK for bio though, I have both TBR bio books and haven't touched them yet (and probably won't).

Any reason you're choosing EK Bio over TBR Bio?

Tatertots, Tman, and Torshi (the three T's 😀)

Nice to see you guys still posting on here.. I thought this thread was dead

This thread will be far from dead as the medical application deadline approaches...

Is EK Verbal supposed to be the best one? I've made significant strides with TPR Verbal but I'm almost done with it and need to get a new book

I've used it and it's not bad. However, I haven't used any other Verbal book so I can't compare.

I did not like the EK Verbal...but it was ok. If you finished TPR then it will probably be good practice, also most of this forum swears by it.

Hello everyone! Been lurking for a while and finally decided to just post.... really because I need advice later on for my personal statement but meh.

Took my MCAT back this summer and did as well as I could have given the situation - I'm satisfied. Applying to Texas schools

btw, I used EK for Verbal and i loved it

I can't wait while I'm shaking in my boots. Quite a stressful sentiment.

TBR is the bomb... except for Bio. I've finally decided to stop using their bio because I wasn't learning anything since I couldn't even understand it. I use TPR bio now.

Oh no no no no...it scares the s*** out of me. :scared:

TBR is way too dense and goes into unnecessary detail. I can read all the way through EK's whole bio book in a day. So far in the two AAMC tests I've taken, I haven't encountered anything that EK didn't cover.

I think I might order it then since I need more practice on Verbal until the MCAT. I might as well order it with the ton of books I have to order for next semester anyways.

EK Verbal is pretty good. That and TPRH Verbal are probably the best besides the actual AAMC exams.

I'm starting lose it with TPRH verbal i keep consistently missing 2 questions per passage...isn't that like an 8ish on the mcat??? i don't get it some of its explanations don't even make sense and totally contradict what the passage says...

I don't blame you. Some questions are just too...out there. 👎thumbdown

I know what you mean!! I have yet to get a passage 100% correct. So frustrating 😡
It'll happen someday, and when it does, well... idk. I'll stop studying 😛

EXACTLY. This last test I missed exactly 2 per passages. For ALL of them. Yeah, one passage I could have only missed one but I read the question wrong. Nonetheless, that's a mistake. xD

Ah shoot. AAMC 5 --> 11/11/12 (34)

This is how I felt with EK.
