I just realized I missed a whole page in this thread. I miss the older class threads where people would be more open about where they were going and what their top choices were.

I wrote up a couple paragraphs and then deleted it lol... I simply don't give out much info online as I'm all about not letting strangers be able to put a face to a name if it's avoidable.


That and I can't troll in certain places if people know me :meanie:



Maybe later on in the cycle.. maybe

When I decide where I am going, I will post it here. 😛 I just have not made any concrete decisions and I honestly don't know what my first choice is. I fell in love with a lot more schools than I thought I would....

Edit: Maybe I will change my avatar for fun when I decide....something like:

BT dubz? I made some 'mater brisque to die for tonight! It's difficult to put it into Tupperware! The best thing I've cooked in a while and I actually forgot a step! I'm going to cook some garlic buttered scallops with it tomorrow. Nom nom nom!

Still deciding if it is for me, it was my first choice before the interview trail. It is 3 years at UCB, 16 students all PBL classes + masters classes(whatever you want at Berkeley) + research(at UCSF or Berkeley) + summers(starts June 25th of this year!). You write a thesis and are paired with preceptors in the east bay area for all three years. Then last 2 years at UCSF.

Wow, just read about this program. You must be a genius. A few questions...Why was this your first choice? Why do you want to get a masters? How will this help you in your future specialty?

Not a genius, obviously since regular UCSF and Stanford waitlisted me. You must be a genius 😛.

It was my first choice for a lot of reasons but it comes down to a few things: I am very interested in the social aspects of medicine and public health, and I wanted to get a MPH or masters in epidemiology/biostatistics anyways. The program just always seemed like a perfect fit for me and my interests and it helped that my faculty mentor from undergrad went to UCB for grad school and knew a lot of the people involved in the JMP. He kept trying to sell me on it 😀 I want a masters because I would like to do population health/epidemiology research in the future and ideally will be working in academic medicine.

I could go on and on about what I like about it and what my concerns are(and what my future goals are) but I don't want to bore everyone. :laugh:

2017ers what say you about George Foreman mini-grills? Cooking a batch of boneless/skinless chicken thighs in mine right now. It's really awesome. I have a feeling it's going to be a lifesaver in med school.

I was thinking of getting one for med school. Can u give your take on how convenient they are to use? How quick do they Cook meat?

I think it's very convenient. Just plug it in, wait a few minutes for it to heat up, and it's ready to go. Literally just have to put your meat on it, close it, and wait for it to be done. The cooking part on the more expensive ones are removable from the heating element so it's easier to clean, but even the cheaper ones (like the one I have) clean up really easily.

It's going to vary by how thick the meat is, but in general I think it cooks at least 2x faster than in a pan on the stove. It heats from both sides and less heat is loss to the surroundings because it closes on the meat. You also don't really have to watch it as closely to make sure it doesn't burn or splatter like in a pan.

Edit: I'm probably going to buy a new one next year so I can cook more at one time. The one I have now can only cook 2 normal sized burgers at one time.

This one looks nice.
