Class of 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I slept from 3 AM to 5:40 AM.

I can still feel the red bull effects. I have so much energy but I am so tired. How is this possible? Is this what we will experience as medical students all the time?!?!?!?!?

What are we getting ourselves into?!?

Well at least you can look forward to being able to understand what is happening to you physiologically :meanie:

Sorry guys I have another question🙂 how much did your score go up from your first FL? I'm assuming that it will as you develop better test taking strategies and become more comfortable with the format of the test. Also because you improve on the weak areas you have. Thanks

This is after doing most of content review.

7 points first test to my real score. Those practice tests are your best resource to improve.

First FL --> Final MCAT = 10 point swing

I did content review first, no FL's for about 2 months (no sense "practicing" FL's without getting the knowledge down first)

Last month before the test - started on FL's, reviewing, learning the test, applying weird and strange strategies whenever it seemed appropriate

Doesn't count. Post on the PMOD account.

Just got accepted to my top school. I am getting trashed tonight... once my fiancee finishes her resume for a teacher job fair.

My students tomorrow are going to witness a hung over BABSstudent in the comparative vertebrate lab tomorrow. That's going to make me vomit smelling those animals.

late to the party, but congrats ! :highfive::clap::clap:

Sigh... back to waiting on finaid

🙁 me too. I don't think I'll see the first one until end of april at the earliest.

So you went to Vegas???:laugh:

I kid, I kid.

That's EXACTLY how I feel in Vegas. Wide awake but oh so tired. I blame the oxygen they pump into the casinos.

12 Points Mostly because I took the first FL way too early I then buckled down and studied my butt off.

2 points for me. I didn't take a single FL until after all of my content review, so I should be relieved that it wasn't a drastic difference as it seems that my content review did me well. My FLs also had a 6-point range overall, so take that as you will.

Mine went up 3 points. But from practice text #3 to #11, my score consistently went up and the last test was 7 points higher. MCAT score ended up being average.

I was about 80% done with content review when I took first FL.

Congrats on the acceptance! The PMOD approves.

Also UWash >> uwisconsin

+3 points here too. Spent more time on content review than on practice tests, but I should have done it the other way round :bang:

Thank you all for the responses. Hopefully I can also accomplish an increase in my scores🙂

Made a new avatar this morning. I am not nearly as skilled as tots, but this will do for now.

Forgive my ignorance but what exactly does FL stand for? I'm assuming it has something to do with MCAT prep.

I feel like such a slacker, because I basically studied minimally for the MCAT.

+2 points...

🙁

Dude, I'm with you on this one. I planned on studying over the summer last year, wait no, the year before that. 2011. Wait, what? Dang, time flies by!
Anyway, my plan was to study and then take it on the last day available which was sept I believe. Well, full-time job, summer classes, and life in general got in the way so I only did about 20 hrs of study.
Took the MCAT and got a 30. I was done with that noise. Lol

Nice!

+1

Full Length, as in AMCAS's full length practice tests at $30 a pop, the best predictors of your actual outcome. 🙂

Ok. Cool thanks for splainin to me.

From my first FL to my last practice FL I increased probably about 5. Then I got another +5 on the real thing. Still don't know how, but I'll take it!

My first full length, taken as a diagnostic, was a 18. I scored a 32 on my actual, so I guess that is a 14 point increase? But you can't take that seriously because I tested before studying and at the end of studying.

I thought you were going to be majorly hungover today?

Well, my fiancee student teaches and she has to wake up at 5:40 to make it to her place she teaches at. We left the bar around 10, I was buzzed but not terribly drunk, but then went home. It was awesome though because the entire bar was saying, "Huck the Fuskies" as I was doing purple shots. haha

Went home, drank more water than I could possibly handle and then laid in bed awake until 3 AM because of the dang red bull in the shots. I am going on less than 3 hours of sleep today.

Holy criznap! I don't even wanna know what you made!

Uhm...I do actually...really bad...

Either way, congrats! That's an amazing achievement.

Yeah same situation as you. Took 1st FL as diagnostic, got a 16. I think my second fl was half way through studying got like a 22. That 22 really woke me up and kicked me into beast mode, and a month later I ended up getting a 33 (11,11,11) on the real thing.

Did my first one after content review. I improved a grand total of 2 points (1st FL to real thing).

I will say that doing full lengths definitely built my confidence. I was ready for the MCAT when it came. I mean, I almost felt bored when taking the actual test because I was so used to it. Anyone else feel the same?

Def wasn't bored but I found the real thing to be much easier thann I expected...though I didn't get any 40...congrats on UWash as well. That is awesome!

After all my studying & about 5 of the FL tests, my MCAT score only improved 1 point above my first try. It was kind of annoying but I think getting a 33 on my first practice test was a freak accident because I had no clue what was happening for most of it.
