I think this will be relevant to everyone here, since we're of the same age group. (Found it on Reddit an hour ago because thesis)

Netflix is adding a bunch of older shows from Cartoon Network and CW, like Johnny Bravo, Samurai Jack, Green Lantern, Batman Beyond, and what not to their list of streaming shows.

I have not read the papers cited but it sounds like one of the main issues is that interns are expected to do as much work as they used to in less amount of time.

Sounds like a potential source of bias is how they rank themselves. From what it sounds like, the interns ranked how they felt they would mess up and those numbers are not the actual cases of people that messed up.
 
Do you think our generation's medicine is in enough freakin' flux? I swear, not one thing remains the same: healthcare policy, undergraduate medical education/curriculum, graduate medical education, reimbursement, working hours; heck, even the boards are evolving to include and exclude certain disciplines. :sigh: At least we have the intergoogles, WiFi, smart phones, recorded lectures, podcasts, etc. to help us through.
 
I'm thinking about starting a pre-matriculation Euro trip thread so those of us traveling can post dates and locations to facilitate meet-ups and/or networking for anyone wanting to do so while abroad. Lord knows I'd love to crash on a couch if someone met up with a bunch of trustworthy people.

I also just started lurking the Euro medicine forums like SDN to see if I could meet up with some European med students. :naughty:

I'm already going to be there in May 😛

Beat the tourist season rush is worth it, IMO. Also may go back later in the summer?

Yes, there could have been some recall biases on that study. I imagine there is a way to check through hospital records, reimbursements, etc. to see if there has been a difference... it may be more complicated than I imagine but it should be doable...

The study on sleep seemed a bit more straightforward but again, I haven't read the papers.

I work until the last weekday in June. I need as much money as I can possibly save to help me transition into med school. I need moving expenses, Euro expenses, and the first month or so of living expenses since we don't get our loan reimbursements right off the bat. I SO SO SO wish I could go in May. 🙁 I'm jelly.

Do you think it's impossible to hit Madrid, Barcelona, Vienna, Berlin, Munich, Dresden, Prague, Amsterdam, Florence, Rome, and Paris on a budget backpacking? Am I crazy to try such a thing? I'm hoping to have about $3k for a month of food, travel, and EtOH... I've been abroad before, but never backpacking alone...

EDIT: I plan to stay with family in Graz, Austria for a few days and a friend in Prague for a day or two.

Awesome idea! I'm still not sure if I'll take a Euro trip or not... if I do, it'll be entirely subsidized by future loan money.

Are you going to get an unlimited train pass? Otherwise.. that might cost a lot just traveling from place to place alone. I did a Madrid to Barcelona overnight train (didn't get a wink of sleep) and did a Rome to Florence train... which took a lot longer than I thought it would. Neither trip was that cheap IIRC and ryan air probably would have been cheaper.

If you stay in big hostels and cook some of your own food.. you could probably make it work. $3k for a month of that much traveling sounds a bit tight to me, especially with the conversion, but maybe I travel luxuriously 😛.

I'd be all about a tour in Belgium & visiting museums in Amsterdam. It does look like I will be staying in the US this summer, brief visit to Mexico but only for a few days... We are planning a road trip across CA that should be fun - some camping, beaches, national parks, museums & concerts 🙂
