Class of 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Okay, without catching up, OHSU's MSTP (MD/PhD) program said they'd "probably interview" me and that my application credentials look "reasonable" for admission. Omg, I have two days to decide and no guarantee of which will be the best option: potentially paying $82k overall at OHSU thanks to the waived tuition and provided living expenses of the MD/PhD program with better school credentials and better locale, but risking non-admission and consequent $328k indebtedness versus $150-180k guaranteed at UT with lesser credentials, horrible city, but great clinicals... AHHHH!

Advice? Again?

(Also, to the Mod Gods that might notice this, please forgive me for posting this in my two most trusted threads. The viewers are mutually exclusive; and I really want advice from both camps.)

That's just so risky. I would probably pick state. That's a tough decision, Guero, I'm sorry you have to make that call.

FIrst, I understand how you feel. Second, I think I am just going to PM you instead.

The struggle just got a little better, because Jeff is throwing more money at me!

Hmm, I seem to remember reading this somewhere else...

Thank you, jemstone!

This is a ruff situation to be in for sure.

Money aside, which school do you like better and how much do you like it better? If its pretty equal or not a real strong liking of one over the other, you should go state.
Actually you should probably just go state either way. That's a lotta dough to gamble with...

dolla make me holla!

My PI loved the work I've done so far! :woot:

Nice work!

BTW, this is my first year on SDN so I could be way off: Does anyone else feel like WL movement is happening a little earlier than usual this year? If yes, I wonder if that means more WL movement overall, or if it just shifts the process up a few days/weeks.

Dude you're on a rampage. Leave some accolades and scholarships for the rest of us 2017ers!

Really though congrats. Nice work.

👍

congrats Strange! beasting it today. and that marg sounds freaking delicious

damn all this WL activity on the school specific threads...WHAT ABOUT ME

"This year’s Match Day gave most students a reason to celebrate, with 99.4 percent of U.S. M.D. seniors matching to a residency position."

I'm not too worried.

That percentage is why I am not too worried about matching.

Step 1, however... :scared:

And this is exactly why it's important to look at data/statistics in context. 👍

That said, there were 0 matches in dermaneuroplastic surgery this year... and that's all I really want to do with my life.

LOL!!

You could also try sending PMs to some of the Attendings/Residents on here for their thoughts. Goro, Q, mimelin, Law2Doc and Cabinbuilder come to mind. Lay it all out for them and see what they think. Either way, whatever you decide to do, we'll support you 100%. Good luck!

good god, I hope so...

Edit: but work on the tango as well. Step I is a beast... something like 8 straight hours of dancing!

I hope its the actual Harlem shake and not the video fad one.

I've heard the choreographic reasoning section is really hard to improve your score on.

The hardest is improv though. They analyze the symbolism of each step.

There is a thunder storm outside and I wore shorts to work.
