I just woke up to a text from my future roommate telling me that our school is changing from H/HP/P/F to strictly P/F!!!

UWashington and UMichigan.

I am IS at UW, but UM felt like a much better fit for me. I was also placed outside of Seattle for my first year at UW, which is a problem because my GF will be moving with me wherever I go and I don't think it's fair to her to move twice in two years. The only thing making me hesitate is OOS tuition at UM, which is about 20k more /year. That being said, it looks I will be able to borrow the money from family at a lower interest rate than federal loans, which makes it a but more palatable.

I think I sort of know that I'm going to UM, but I don't like feeling like I'm making a stupid financial decision. UM thought they might be able to offer a scholarship which is why I'm waiting so late, but I just talked to their office and it looks like that won't be possible as their yield was higher than expected.

I don't think it's an insupportable financial decision. And I know this is kind of negligible, but don't forget about the extra costs involved in moving more than once.

UM hands down. Girlfriend comes first. I agree that moving two places will be a bad thing.

I find it hilarious that this thread is over 32,000 posts long.

To put that in perspective, lets say it takes on average 5 seconds to read each post, which is an understatement considering some posts are long or involve complicated quoting, it would take nearly 2 days of continuous reading to have read it all.
