Watched Interstellar over the weekend. Great movie. All that empty outer space made me feel uneasy tho...haha...
If by "awesome" you mean "ridiculous," then yes, I agree lol.

I really agree with that perspective! Most of my friends are stressing about finals right now and....I have all this time to read for fun!Im loving the support and optimism in this thread! Special shout out to @M12B and @Ace Khalifa. I haven't received an acceptance yet either, and thoughts of reapplication/worry/anxiety/panic always creep up into my mind.
However, I was talking to my non-premed best friend yesterday (without whom I would not be able to get through this) and telling him how stressed out I was and all I wanted was one acceptance in hand to feel at peace again, when he said something that I think is really true, and because we are so caught up in this madness, its sometimes hard to see it for ourselves. He told me that no, this is probably the only true moment of peace I am ever going to have, the time between submitting my apps and waiting for responses, because this might be the only time in like that there is NOTHING WE HAVE TO DO. We have worked hard for 4+ years, we have poured blood sweat and tears into our applications, we have prepped for our interviews: In this moment, there is nothing to do. Once we get an acceptance, there will once again be things to get done! Decisions to be made, arrangements to be made, new life to be prepared for, etc. And instead of getting anxious about this period of limbo, he told me to see it for what it is: a unique time in our lives where we have already done all that we could do, and now we do things we have always wanted to do! Read books, learn french, watch all the woody allen movies, eat a ton of ice cream... whatever!
So a shift in perspective can really help get through this process. Sure, we might have to re-apply. That possibility is always there. But that will come when it comes (Im not going to worry about that till February personally!) and till then Im going to enjoy every minute in my amazing city with my incredible friends, because who knows, I might be leaving them next year to start med school somewhere!
I'd agree that it's a movie best watched in theaters. The cinematography and soundtrack are great. I think if you get blu-ray and have a nice sound system, it's good to watch at home too. But the theater just gives a much better feel to the movie.Ok I've heard great things about it and especially recs to watch in theatre and not at home, would you agree?
Haha, I know you didn't but I think the name suits you well🙂 I know you're a Wiz Khalifa fan.Totally did not make my SDN name based on that.....but interesting nonetheless lol.
In other news, I love Taylor Swift's new album 1989!! Been listening to it non-stop all weekend when I had 3 days off from work.

On another note, is everyone in here a Taylor Swift fan?? You guys... Please don't get the pitch forks out but I have never really listened to her music before 😱 I'm going to YouTube some of her stuff because I don't like feeling left out lol
Any recommendations?

Did you like the Dark Knight trilogy?I really want to watch it again! Seeing it in 70mm IMAX was fantastic.
Drink the Kool Aid.All this T-swift talk is making me nauseous.
And the players gonna play, play, play, play, playAll this T-swift talk is making me nauseous.
Did you like the Dark Knight trilogy?
Edit: Which was your favorite?!
Indeed it has!!! My anonymity has been a complete bust hahaha but whatever, I'm not ashamed of what I say on here or anything 🙂
and yes I would obviously love to meet you as well!!! Too bad Baylor is not interested in me, so I have no excuse to visit Texas 🙁 but I mean it -- SDN meet-up this summer would be AMAZING.
You can't miss her. She is a giant walking sunflower. True story.
You guys are all lovely, I just have to say that! This thread always puts a huge smile on my face no matter what mood I'm in. Absolutely YES to a SDN summer meet-up, and major, major congrats to @researchismymiddlename! I hope I still get to meet you in KY!

As crazy as this sounds, I absolutely loved The Dark Knight Rises. All three were phenomenal, but the finale was a breathtaking combination of amazing and chaotic. And having a Robin and Catwoman really added to its allure. Anne Hathaway totally stole the show! Also, the villains were so well played by Tom Hardy and Marion Cottilard.Yes I loved it!! Batman Begins will always hold a special place in my heart because I absolutely adore "origins" stories, if that makes any sense. Usually the beginning of a movie is my favorite, I just love seeing how characters came to be, etc. BUT, I really loved The Dark Knight as well, that was an amazing sequel. What about you?!
Oh wow. You weren't joking about that Googling bit. This is why I completely blanked my existence in Google 😀 (yay for lots of emails to lots of sites...)Mine too 😉 Anonymity blown to ashes. A simple Google search would identify me, but I won't go into the recipe for that lol 😀 Like you though, I don't mind except for the fact that adcoms might find out what schools I was really rooting for
@ProbablyAPenguin I went to college in Texas too!!! Wicked cool!
Awww she sure dazzles like a sunflower 🙂
Thank you so much!!! You're amazing too and I hope to meet you at KY second look because I love visiting the family 😉
@No Limits I'm impressed by your analysis!! And CONGRATULATIONS Ace on your interview!!! I hope you have some of that crazy amazing lava cake with cinnamon ice cream @spockprime enjoyed 😉 Yes, I still remember that because every time I crave dessert I think about that.
I'm not a TS fan but I will say one of my favorite songs is Haunted.
Xoxoxo for girls and xxxx for guys.
Multi-Post reply because I'm working late:
Oooooh... so I never was a TSwift fan, but (total Valley girl moment here) I loved the clothing in the Blank Space video. I've also fantasized about owning a well-gardened manor, some horses, and several Dobermans... so that video gave me all the fantasy-house lust (minus the crazed outbursts and car demolishing). I'm slowly coming to terms with the fact that I won't be able to have a dog in med school. 🙁
Haven't seen Interstellar! Heard mixed reviews from my friends – many complained that Nolan simply does not know how to write believable women, while others had a hard time taking McConaughey seriously after that Lincoln commercial. (Had to google how to spell "McConaughey.") Loved the Batman series, but my favourite Nolan film is The Prestige.

I like how the menfolk are on an x-only basis. Smart move.

Of course! One of my favorite movies. I think I prefer Inception over Interstellar just cause of the humor factor. Are you an Inception fan?!

Ah, how was IMAX? My friend told me not to watch IMAX version cause you couldn't hear the dialog.I really want to watch it again! Seeing it in 70mm IMAX was fantastic.

That film actually has some interesting ortho topics. There was the spine procedure performed on Bruce Wayne in Bane's prison. He recovered pretty quickly from that 😀 He also moved pretty well for someone with arthritic knees. Perhaps Batman discovered a way to regenerate cartilage?!Not crazy at all! Although it's the only one that I've only seen once, I remember really enjoying it -- more than everyone around me, that's for sure! Villains were great, and YES Catwoman and Robin were fantastic additions!! I dressed up as Catwoman this year for my dance class 😛
It's also one of my favorite movies! Like Dom, I hope to return to California one day!!Of course! One of my favorite movies. I think I prefer Inception over Interstellar just cause of the humor factor.
Again, so random and I love it!Heading to bed early, but here's a fun article I found while navigating the news: http://www.ctvnews.ca/sci-tech/birds-drunk-on-fermented-berries-get-help-sobering-up-1.2106300

Child por...wtf? Oh produgy!!! nvm.So my night has devolved down to chemistry studying and Googling child prodigies. Apparently someone graduated from Harvard Law at 22.
If I overload for two semesters on credits, I could pull that off. Hmm.
Same with me. I don't understand popular music that well. Anyone want to talk about Stravinsky? This whole taylor swift stuff is creeping me out.
Still gotta see Interstellar! Too bad this semester is the semester from hell.

OO OO math. What course was it?I think it went well! I'll find out in a week. It's a class that uses a lot of differential equations so that's never fun 🙁 but I finished with more than enough time to spare!
Its a course called transport phenomena! A bioengineering class that basically examines how momentum is transferred within fluids and how particles are transferred within fluids. Useful for examining blood flow, drug release, etc.OO OO math. What course was it?
Oooo cool! I took a course last year that revolved around modeling biological systems using differential equations, hands down one of my favorite classes. I'm flattered! But it was kinda required to graduate 😉And this is why you're one of my heroes, Ms. Penguin!

You have options in 3/4 corners of the US! Big congrats all arounds. Can't wait to see what your other interviews have in store for you!
