Hello! does anyone who has the us news report paid subscription PM me the post interview acceptance rates of Hopkins, Vandy, and Wash U? Thanks and sorry to ask, I just can't justify spending $35 during an already crazy expensive cycle!

Haha! No, I knew that 🙂 I was really surprised and confused many months ago when I first saw @hellanutella's MDApps, since I was sure that she was female but her gender was listed as male. Her posting in the Women's Clothing thread a few days later made me even more confused 😉 But I figured it out!

I thought gyngyn was female for the longest time... @claduva94 proved me wrong on that one hahaha

Gyngyn is a man?!? Aaaah so confused

I practiced interview stuff over break.

I'm just thinking back about how terribly I answered some questions at my first interview and hoping it works out.

Hopefully there will be more opportunities to put things into practice.

Do you guys ever have those days where you know you have an interview coming up... and then you get 100 percent convinced that you will show up and they'll be like "Lol you were supposed to be here yesterday".... and then you go through and check all your emails and plane tickets and everything like five billion times to make sure you have the right dates?

I did this with Case and CCLCM a ton of times because I was paranoid I would mix them up and go to the wrong one on the wrong day. I feel you.

The night before one of my interviews I had a dream that I was getting ready for said interview, walked out the door in the suit et al. and then arrived at the doorstep to my father's house in my home state 700 miles away... I spent the majority of the dream panicking before I was able to rationalize within my dream. I still decided to wake myself up in order to double-check that I was truly where I needed to be...

Every time right after I book plane tickets I can't help but check.

Happened to my Jeff host for his Harvard interview

😕I'm baaaack!!! I was supposed to spend Thursday with family friends, but I worked 13 hours on Thanksgiving day 😡 Then I hibernated this weekend, except for the short times I was in the lab. First off @Cyberdyne 101 I seriously considered getting a big Mac then I thought "@!#&%, here in Iowa the McDonalds are probably closed" lol. Kidding, Iowa City is different, but still... I was too lazy and just had ramen 😳 Hugs to you and @Ace Khalifa (Like you have a ED family, I have a lab family 😀)

So am I the only one who's surprised to hear that @Cyberdyne 101 is a Mr?

A very sweet and nice Mr.! 🙂 I don't know why but his old avatar made me think he was a guy, so I was never shocked  And then when he proposed to be @hellanutella's "agent", with the glasses and all, I was like holy smokes, he looks like Tom Cruise 😀 So all confusion was definitely eliminated.

I was confused about @hellanutella too! The way she wrote made her sound like a girl, but her MD Apps convinced me she was a guy lol! I think it was only when you visited Iowa @sunflower18 that I learnt she was a girl and I was judging a book by its superficial cover 😀

Wait!! gyngyn is a guy then? I was so confused because I posted a question in the Women's forum regarding a winter coat I was thinking of wearing to my interview. All my other coats are red, pink (yes, pink), or too thin. This coat was grey tweed and had long ruffles in the front. Well, I think @ridethecliche can attest to the fact that my fashion sense isn't always the most practical lol, and this coat was not very popular. gyngyn said "Don't wear it." Winged Scapula said "I'm surprised you said say the ruffles on that coat looked like [a certain female part that I refuse to type out]" 😳 and then gyngyn said "I was too much of a gentleman to say so" Cue my face going 😕 :uhno:

So gyngyn is a guy! It's all clear now

I still subconsciously consider Goro a cat.

Me too! Oh man!!! I thought I was the only simpleton 😉

Thanks for making me laugh, ya'll!

Thanks!!! @FriendlyFH gave me a much needed break from my paper on Sunday! She literally hugged every dog that we encountered in Central Park 🙂 It was great to finally meet someone from this thread!!

I also wasn't quite sure about Gyngyn's gender. I've obviously been more focused on his location 😀

I hope you make it back to NYC in 2015!

He actually showed up the wrong day?
No the reverse! He thought it was on the 21st (because haha interview on 12/21/12 the apocalypse is coming since he got an interview at Harvard) when in reality it was on the 20th. He was sleeping in on the 20th when he heard the Harvard admissions office on his answering machine asking where he was. Now that is a nice alarm clock.

Did I tell everyone about my 2 week trip to the East Coast in the end of January?

Think I might add Cali in there. But I can only fit it in at the beginning of the trip. I'll probably got from 70 degree weather to 20 degree weather. gg.............

Actually though, I've had this exact thought before. That's why I haven't brought it up before now, and refuse to push, poke, or prod much further 😛

gyngyn is a precious resource. If we look too closely, he might disappear!

I have a fairly confident guess, but for the same reason, I leave it like that.

So I'm currently at a layover in midway airport and am reminiscing on all the airports I've been through this semester. Midway has good popcorn and isn't too busy, and it's def one of my favorites. (Though Dallas and Atlanta have some excellent food choices). What are y'all's favorite airports?

Philly's airport was pretty big, lots of food. But midway was better. Nashville one had some amazing southern food. LAX itself was terrible but there is a In-N-Out right outside the airport where I usually go to fill up my stomach before heading onto the plane. I love airports in general, whenever I can, I travel with my skateboard to cruising through terminals

Don't think too hard. 😉 We don't want to scare them and have them flutter away.

@researchismymiddlename haha I didn't know flipping my gender on MDapps would have thrown people off so easily! 'Twas cool to be a man for a few months, but I changed my demographics back to their rightful state. 😉

Congrats, @ridethecliche! Awesome news! Their student housing seems like such a sweet deal. And seeing as Einstein is non-rolling, you won't have to go through too much of a wait compared to a lot of other interviewees!

The Delta terminal at DTW is fantastic... it's probably the nicest place in the general Detroit area (and this is coming from someone who lived there for 2 years). Whenever I got bored, I'd just walk from end-to-end on the moving walkways.

Delta at LAX recently got an (overpriced) Lemonade in there, so I'm all smiles now. I think it's been objectively decided that LAX is a wretched airport, but I have so many fond memories of travelling there for holiday travel that I kind of block out the awful-ness. The big, sci-fiesque restaurant in the center got shut down, but I'm not upset because the food was really lacklustre.

As you can tell, I have a Delta rewards card haha.

Favourite non-continental US/international airports go to LHR (happiest airport staff I have ever seen) and Lihue airport in Kauai, which has open-air terminals.

I just remember someone posted a picture of him wearing suit and it looked sharp. I thought it was you, but I could be wrong as it was months ago.

I have posted a couple of pictures of myself on here.

Shirt sleeves are a hair short on the right. I had the jacket dry cleaned recently and it shrank though. GAHHHHHH!!!

A really good friend of mine from work went there for med school. She just started her attending gig and wants to call in support of my app. I told her to hold her horses till I interview. I think she's more excited than I am, but she LOVED her time there and her experience is a big part of why I'm so excited to go there.

Couldn't agree more with @hellanutella.. I love the dtw delta terminal. I was also very pleasantly surprised at some of the food options in cleveland, tbh. They had this english-style pub that served amazing fish and chips. First time I flew into LAX, I was so intimidated by the sheer volume of people. But I actually kinda liked it the second time I was there.. (I was prepping for a 13-hour redeye flight with 2 connections by consoling myself with a gigantic hamburger that I had hoped would put me right to sleep. I was wrong, and it was a very, very long night).

Congrats on Einstein!!!! And your outfits are amazing and super memorable because of how sharp you look.

As for airports, Minneapolis-St.Paul was pretty darn nice, with tons of food choices, and I agree with @FriendlyFH, Delta terminal is quite nice in Detroit... but so long. Glad I finally came to my senses and started using the shuttle when in a hurry. Running that length with a 30 min layover (after flying in slightly late) was no fun. I also like the lit-up aquarium like tunnels in the Detroit airport. Denver's was pretty nice as well, but I didn't get to explore it as much.

As someone who flys almost exclusively southwest I am almost never a beneficiary of the delta terminals. Though I have found they have the best food (ie Atlanta) and have therefore started visiting them more frequently.

Southwest's unassigned seating and plentiful snacks are AWESOME. I always load up on the 100-cal packs of cookies and get unreasonably excited when the flight attendant with the snack basket comes down the aisle.

Delta gives you the choice of a rock-hard biscoff cookie or a minuscule portion of peanuts. 🙁

Edit: also a big fan of the Southwest terminal in Phoenix. I think it's their major hub, so it's chock-a-block full of eateries and such.

yes, the second picture. I commented remember? 🙂

Sorry to go off topic, but which FAFSA do I fill out? I've never actually completed the FAFSA before and I'm kind of confused... It says 2014-2015, so is that right?

P.S: I thought the Cincinnati airport was gorgeous, followed by Minneapolis/St. Paul... Also, I kept thinking why can't we have connecting buildings and a light rail in NY...🙄...but then I remembered that NYC is whole other kettle of fish...😳

But please, FAFSA, what does this all mean? Also, does it just go through? Is there a wait time? #help🙁

Ok sometimes they have these cheese crackers that are 100 calories and I like those sooo much better than cookies. But then sometimes they have pretzels and I'm sad. Or I wake up right after the snack person passes my row 🙁

Pretty sure it's going to be 2015-16 and I think that'll open in January!

This will also be my first time filling out FAFSA. Silly immigrant parents thought that US education was free when I first started undergrad. "Well, public high/elementary schools are free, so public colleges will be too! You don't have to fill out that form!" They said. -___-

Oh my god, the cheesy Ritz sandwich crackers? Those are divine.

I still to this day don't really understand the concept of fit.

Immigrant parents (@hellanutella ) and I moved here when I was in middle school, so the idea in India was always to go to the best school you get into. They were like, "what is this fit nonsense". To a certain degree, they're right and it's marketing, but I think size and location matter.

For med school, I really don't care. Which is why the 'why this school' stuff is so hard for me. It's like... I really don't care where I go as long as it's not treading water at this point.
