It's been a Fast and Furious weekend and I'm almost ready for 7! I hope everyone is doing well!!

London is pretty awesome. I've done zero sight seeing which is fine by me. Going to do some tomorrow because my friend feels bad haha.

I'm weirdly obsessed with the "X SOM vs Y SOM" threads in the SSD forum... I love them. I'm not usually able to offer advice, since most of the time I didn't interview at the schools in question, but I like reading them and trying to help people come up with answers. I'm mildly disappointed that I don't have a big decision to make because it means I don't get to make a thread asking for advice and getting input from the wonderful SDN community hahaha. Which is super lame and strange, I know, and the vast majority of myself is super relieved that my decision is so straightforward.

Anyway, point is, you all who are on the fence should make posts and get advice! If I haven't already (or even if I have, haha), I'll chime in on your threads with input 🙂

I'm also obsessed with those threads, Sunflower!! Although, I'm prone to give very biased advice, especially if a school in California is part of the dilemma 🙂

I LOVE THESE THREADS SO MUCH AS WELL.

You're my go-to person whenever I'm in the throes of serious indecision (which is basically every waking moment of my life). I've been riding the cognitive dissonance bus pretty hard for the past few weeks. It's been a rough ride to say the least. I think once my finaid packages roll in I'll make one of these threads and beg for everyone's help. Maybe you can make a "Help! What speciality should I apply for?" thread in a few years. 😉

In other news: I'm stoked stoked stoked for second looks. I really hope they help me out, because I'm literally 50/50 on my two top schools. I keep telling myself this isn't supposed to be a problem... but it is. I know that by April 30th I'm going to have to turn down some schools I truly love and it breaks my heart. 🙁 Anyone else in a similar pickle?

I am!
I really love several of my schools and will be happy to go to any of them!
And I will be sad to not go to the others 😛

I have found myself responding to these surprisingly often. Sometimes, though, they remind me of the well-meaning but useless advice one can get IRL.

"Definitely, definitely go to School X."
"No, my cousin went to X and didn't learn anything. And anyway you'd be crazy to turn down School Y!"
"Come on, go to whichever is cheaper. All med schools are the same. Life is boring."

Sometimes the dilemma and the responses are really interesting though. I think they work best when the OP is open and honest.

Happily, stressfully, very much so.

You know, I've been meaning to say "OMG YOU'VE BEEN ACCEPTED TO BOTH SCHOOLS IN THE BAY AREA!! YOU'D BE INSANE TO NOT ATTEND ONE OF THEM!!!" But that wouldn't qualify as impartial advice  😉

Alright, I really have to leave you and @hellanutella alone 😀

Haha! I'm very happy to help you any time! Although I don't envy your position -- you really couldn't go wrong either way, but it's still a crazy tough decision to make! It's like you're the bachelorette, haha!

Isn't that so true? I feel that way about some of my schools too, even though I clearly liked them less than the one I will attend. It's such a complex, multi-faceted decision!

Yeah, I agree, some of the advice isn't that great. But some of it is, and it's also enlightening to see what matters most to other people.

I must say, I am very curious as to where you'll matriculate! You've done SO well this cycle!!!!

I know, right? I'd love to end up practicing at UCSF or Stanford 😍

I'll likely be making one of those soon, I'm really stuck on my decision between three very different schools.

Haha I was thinking about making one of those threads, too (and I LOVE reading them, usually have no input however). I have about four schools I'm looking at, so that might not go over well - guess I need to narrow it down further before I ask for help. I'm honestly so confused and anxious right now! It shouldn't make that much of a difference, but I wish the decision date was still May 15!

Post away!!! Four isn't too many, and the input might help clarify some things or soothe your anxiety.

*pounds fist on table* I LOVE THESE THREADS. Bring 'em on. They distract me from my own choices.

'19ers: do one of our brethren, @TxC, a favour and weigh in on his Penn State vs. Drexel thread. I fear I'm woefully unqualified to speak on these two schools, as I have never visited them, so I can't contribute more beyond the cheesesteak vs. Hershey bar debate.

Not gonna lie, being able to find good food is very important to me 🙂

I mean my vote is for Drexel @TxC, I swear I'm not biased here.....

You know, in a perverted way, I'm somewhat glad to have gotten waitlisted at a lot of schools cause that made my decision really easy.
Not that I'm displeased with my school choice, btw...😏
I still think you should have waited til the bitter end cuz you never know what'll happen. Then again, waiting sucks and you had less of an incentive to wait than me lol.

My mom did the math on my loans yesterday. $200k over four years. Eeeek.
