@turayza and @Agent B this is green chile of New Mexico, it is long, fat and joocy, after you toast it make it seed-less and then squeeze all the joociness out of it then you can put it in your mouth, it tastes weird at first but then the taste is going to intensify, each bite is better than the one before, you gonna come back for more....:heckyeah::smuggrin:

P/s: it tastes way better with buns and meat, bigger the buns, better it is...

Jesus christo that looks divine. I'm on board with pretty much anything involving caramel and or chocolate.

Never had green chili before... kind of sad I don't think I'll be able to apply to NM for med schools. That chili burger is super tempting.

Has anyone tried "sushi pizza?"
dscn1000.jpg

It was huge in Montréal (I never got into poutine). Just layers of salmon, nori, wasabi, and avocado atop a bed of fried rice. Sometimes sprinkled with salmon roe. Tastes godawful if made incorrectly -- and a total adulteration of real sushi -- but it managed to grow on me.

I dont think NM accepts OOS, but you can always come here for green chili and hot air balloon fiesta. No I have never heard of it, it does look good! I do this the real version of sushi though....like these.

@LabratABQ: Thank you so much for the sushi porn. Ohhhhh lawwwd.

I applied to a research conference in Japan for the summer... mostly for the food. The chance of me being accepted/receiving travel funding is very slim, but the prospect of having proper tako nigiri is quite tempting.

Oh you have got to go to the master of sushi restaurant. I was there for a vacation and it was not easy to get in, dinner was like $550.00/person, but it was out of this world, tastes that you have never tasted before and fish was so fresh and literally melted in my mouth... Taking pics of food is what i do for fun hahaha people = boring, food = not not not not so boring.

Holy cow. Super envious... that's quite a bit out of my price bracket. Is that the place featured in the documentary "Jiro Dreams of Sushi?"

I really like having sashimi as well... damn you quality fish for being so bloody expensive. Got to have salmon sashimi at a rather posh place with my lab one time (only because I didn't have to pay) and the fish was so bright and buttery tasting... I could go on and on about this hunk of fish for days. So I can only imagine what the legit, high-quality Japanese sushi is like.

Officially pickled with envy. That must have been awesome.

I'm a gal who occasionally masquerades as a guy online, 'cause ~anonymity~ and stuff. Screw the gender binary anyways.

SDN is kind of hilarious because it's there's so much identity-sleuthing going on. The forums seem to be overwhelmingly male, but I bet there's more than a few ladies who pretend to gents here ahaha.

hahahha, screw them, we need more females...we had a great discussion about that last night. Ya, it was one in a life time experience typa thing. You seem to have a thorough understanding about sushi! I am impressed. We should have a food porn thread, im a dude.

Oh one of Jiro's students (Shiro...lol) opened a restaurant in downtown Seattle that is absolutely amazing. The fresh, not-too-expensive sashimi is really only in port cities 🙂

depends it is all the same...joocy? why would joocy makes you nervous? you dont want it to be all dried and boring looking! lol😵

Wellll I just read the whole ethnicity thread and now I'm depressed. I don't know why I do this to myself 😕

Why are you depressed?

Well, I'm less depressed after seeing the pictures of food on this page... 😉 But basically, since I'm Chinese, it's hard to not take those comments personally, even though I don't really fit into any of the negative stereotypes that have been slung around. It reminds me of elementary/middle school, where I was like one of two Asian kids in my classes — I often had friends say something racist toward Asians in front of me (like the whole use your fingers to make your eyes slant up and say "ching chong, etc." act) and justify it because I "wasn't like the other Asians". I don't think they realized how offensive their comments were to me because racism toward Asians doesn't seem like that big of a deal.

But of course, I feel the same way around my engineering friends who disparage on my humanities major friends and tell me that their comments don't apply to me because I'm majoring in physics. It's ridiculous to me because I enjoy the humanities and may have majored in something like Classical Studies (I like Latin) if I didn't have an amazing physics teacher in high school... It basically makes me feel like if we weren't friends and they didn't know me, they'd be making mean comments behind my back as well. And the awful thing is that I don't think my friends are bad people, they're just completely unaware of how offensive their comments can be.

It is difficult to see things like that. We are hoping to gain an entrance into the field of medicine, we should be able to overlook the racial barrier and be more mature about this. I believe in the idea of either you qualify or you don't, let's let at what you have accomplished and compare and contrast that with others to see how qualify you really are. Now, there are ignorances out there who are unable to do such simple thing, thus leads to high mal practice insurance. Once you are on that bed in the hospital, you are either citizen of the healthy world or a citizen of the illness world. Goal is to win you back, to restore homeostasis.

I have more food pics of that is going to help. lol, who gives a damn what those crap-heads have to say. If they have the gut, they should say those things, that is express their beliefs, perspectives in their interviews and see how well it is going to turn out.

I will gladly look at all the food and cute animal pictures you have 🙂

Who says I'm not into hot girls? 😉

Go on... Lol .
For the record, I asked my girlfriend to make cookies that night you made them and she replied "why? it isn't your birthday" then went right back to watching some housewife show :lame: **sigh**

👎Stereotypes and racism suck. Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity. Forget them, we will be your non-racist friends now :highfive::biglove:

Soooooo I am going to enjoy class of 2019's company this semester. I am swamped with work so I am forfeiting my social life in the name of science. SDN is ok though. 🙂

Hahahah you should try making the cookies for her 🙂

(and then whip it out as a defense in a future argument! buahahah)

Hmm.. making cookies... Do I microwave them?
Without a microwave I'm useless in the kitchen 🙁 I guess I could try for her. Don't think they will come out looking great like yours though lol

That's why you go to Costco and get it hahahha, a huge box of 20 freaking big, soft oatmeal cookies for only 7 bucks.

They're super easy!! Takes an hour max. My brother (12 y/o) makes them all the time.

on the kitchen counter, floor, you name it :laugh:

I messed up cooking rice the other week, and the instruction was vert clear...I can manage multi millions dollars machines at the hospital, yet messed up a 40 bucks machine.
lol
Backup plan: buy costco pack. Take out 12. Heat on baking pan (5 min). Hide the rest of the pack of cookies.
Present delicious homemade cookies!! 😀
