class rank calc method?

It seems to me that a few people in school will make all A's, and quite a few more will have say, one B. Does that mean you will have many people tied in class rank or do they use your numerical scores in each class, weighted for credit hour, to calculate the class rank? does it just depend on the school?

just put a non-gunnerific spin on it... like, "yo, how do they figure our class ranks? is everyone who got straight D's like me gonna have the same rank?"
