Hello everyone, using a throwaway for anonymity. About to start MS-2 in a little over a month and recently gotten my class rank, which has gotten me worried for my potential performance on boards. I'm in the upper part of the bottom quartile at my DO school, not bottom 10%. I had lots of personal stuff going on this year which definitely made first year of pre-clinical difficult but fortunately I have passed everything. However, at the end of the year I definitely felt I could have done better. Anyone have any advice on how I can best prepare for second year and potentially COMLEX/STEP? Thank you.

I recommend starting Board prep by Xmas of OMSII

I second Goro. Use question banks (there are plenty of them that continue to grow) to identify weakness and high yield review books for review. Supplement weakness from there with more in depth resources.

I was bottom quartile in class and top quartile for boards. Be honest with yourself about your efforts, knowledge base, and weaknesses. Our rank was heavily weighted by anatomy. I was horrible at anatomy and it singlehandedly pulled my rank down to the bottom quartile. Did great in all my other classes and on boards, so it’s not the end of world.. unless you want derm, ortho, or ent. Then you might be screwed
