Classes after acceptance
Started by chris ergot
Yes. With many acceptances, school will mention a few requirements that are still necessary. You might just need to graduate, and to do that you might just need to score a C or higher on any courses that are required, unless otherwise stated.
Yes, especially more so if you stated you would be taking it during Spring on your application. If you do not (or you don't pass it satisfactorily with a C), your acceptance can and may be revoked.
Dropping classes that you put as planned on your app aren't looked upon favorably either. I'd email the school and get it in writing that you dropping the class(es) will have no bearing on your acceptance status. How about if the school we end up choosing doesn't have the planned class as a prerequisite requirement at their school?
Don't make bad decisions because you are in. All these offers are conditional even after submitting your deposit. If you put classes on your application as planned I strongly recommend you do them because they may have considered them. If for some unusual reason you cannot take them email the school like artist said.
If the class is a pre-requisite you HAVE TO take it.
Don't just cruise and get Cs either. You wanna keep the same GPA or higher because that is who they accepted. Some schools like UCSF will tell you that you cannot get below a B-

Is this class a pre-requisite requirement for this school?
yes
Have you gotten the acceptance email yet?

The course is a prerequisite. Period. If you fail to provide it, they may revoke the acceptance. Even though the admission people may have overlooked this, you probably do not want to take a chance.
You can always call the office and ask, and I am pretty sure they will give you the same answer as mine.

yesHave you gotten the acceptance email yet?
and the email didn’t say that your acceptance is conditional upon successful completion of all pre req?
nope
nope
you are welcome to do whatever you feel is best, but I would recommend not risking it...
From what I remember, that phrase didn’t appear in my acceptance emails, but it did in the official acceptance letters I received in the mail. Every one of them said that.nope
As others have said, I would be very cautious NOT taking a class that is a prerequisite for a school you plan on attending. This is one of the reasons schools ask for official transcripts before matriculation, so they can audit it.
