I know this question has been asked before, but I wanted to get some fresh opinions. I am starting dental school this fall and coming from a business and legal background, the only science classes I have taken are the basic prereqs (Chem. 1&2, Orgo. 1&2, Bio. 1&2, and Physics 1&2). Are there any classes that I should try to take this summer to prevent getting buried when school starts? Unfortunately biochemistry isn't an option because none of the schools in my area are offering it this summer. Any advice would be most appreciated.

Relax, have a few beers and enjoy your summer. Dental school sciences begin like you have never had a science class before in your life. It's not that hard. So no, don't take classes. It won't help at all, and will waste your last free summer.

I wish I could take the summer off, but it is either classes or work. I'm a nontrad (29, wife, kid), so I can't really use the blow off steam before grad school excuse. I already burned that one before law school. Thanks everyone for the advice. I signed up to take Anatomy and Microbiology. They seemed to be the best of the ones I had to pick from.

Dude.... you shoulda taken the time off... or work or something. You'll get all the anatomy and micro that you'll need in dental school, and you will wish you had the mental break ... even if its just work and no classes. anatomy will not cover head and neck the way you need, and.... from what I've learned in undergrad micro, I didn't learn much (I have not had dental school micro, so i'm not too sure yet).
If you're already accepted, dont kill yourself in these classes, just get that exposure that you crave :)

Its a complete waste of time taking these classes. Sure you may save some hours studying, but its not worth it. Spend TIME with your wife and kid. The next four years will take quite a bit of your family time away from you. I had a wife and kid through school, Im speaking from experience.
