I'm only in high school, but I feel a strong connection to radiology already. I've had scans recently on my head and foot when I got a concussion and a fractured bone.

To get to the point, today I was denied entrance to my school's AP Chemistry course. I would have taken it normally, but when I asked to take it last year, the class was full. Since I am coming in late, the teacher doesn't think that I'll be able to get caught up in the class, so I have to stay in normal chemistry.

Will this affect my chances of studying radiology or will I be able to make up this class at a later time?

Thanks.

P.S. Sorry if this is totally out of line and completely on the wrong site, but it seems as though posting here would be nothing but beneficial.

sigh

1) Finish high school
2) Finish college
3) Finish the 1st 2 years of med school and ace Step 1
4) Do well on your clinical rotations 3rd year of med school
5) THEN, we can start talking about a career in radiology

Go to the pre-allo forums or high school section (I think we have one?). Long way from needing to post in the rads section. AP Chemistry is irrellevant to any future career you have, focus on getting into college and doing well there to get in to med school. You have no clue what you will want to do 2, 4, 8 years from now, take it step by step.

I dropped out of high school and have a GED. I didn't take AP anything. Intro Bio was when I figured out plants were made out of cells. Nobody at this level will ever care what you did in high school.

So, nobody cares you couldn't get AP Chemistry. If anything, substituting AP credits for college credits becomes a major headache later because med schools will often not accept them if they're in pre-med prerequisites. Plan to take gen chem, gen bio, gen physics, and at least one math course (Physics I or higher) in undergrad and get As in them there. So either don't AP them in HS or know you're going to repeat.

Moving this thread to hSDN.
