No medical school will ever see your high school grades (unless they are dual enrollment) and you can get to medical school from pretty much any college. Focus on building your study skills, getting the grades and extracurriculars you need to get into a college that is a good fit for you, and once you're in college is the time to start thinking about what your medical school application will look like!

I know everyone is basically saying to chill, which you should, but I will say, from a study strategy standpoint-

For classes where you have to remember things (words, numbers, etc). I'm talking biology, history, psychology, etc. Use Anki. Or some form of spaced repetition.

For classes where you have to problem solve (math, science, physics), you need to do a TON of practice problems. Like just beat your head (metaphorically) against a whiteboard.

Some classes (chemistry, organic chemistry) require both memorization AND problem solving.

Also, when I was your age I used to run around saying "Sleep is for the weak and the dead!" that was incredibly foolish of me. You need 7-8 hours of sleep a night, basically every night. Going on a sleep deprivation stretch in high school and college has probably permanently hampered my cognitive performance a little. Maybe. But anyways, I'm just saying go to bed dude. No all nighters. Study in advance of the test. No cramming.

So now that I’m in medical school I’ll get up on a Saturday and study for like 14 hours or so (I’ll take short breaks throughout that obviously). I do the Pamodoro technique.

I wouldn’t do that as a high school student. Go have fun while you’re young. But when you do sit down to study these days, nothing wrong with being efficient and working on those skills.

You will probably have to pull those kinds of hours in college to get into medical school. Right now just take care of yourself and have as much fun as possible. And hug your mother

I don't know how you study, but are all of your devices shut off? No internet distractions. Maybe some calm study music. Studying for more than 4 hours a day is overkill for high school kids. You need to enjoy your family, play sports, or do community service. Go out with friends.

You're going to burn out. Your brain is still developing and builds while you are sleeping. Stressing your cortex at this point is going to damage it as you grow up into an adult. Stress is not your friend. Sometimes stepping away and taking a break without the dopamine hits of social media helps you. Read a book. Write a journal. Play music or chess or board games (NOT RPGs). The strongest high school students are Swiss army knives who excel at a number of different interests that they are passionate about.
