Hey all,
I'm a biomedical engineering pre-med who wants to go to med school. I have some questions about classes, so I'm hoping some of you may be able to help out.
1. Is cell bio needed? I am taking quantitative physiology, which will cover the cell bio component.
2. How far up in math should I go? Currently i'm set for math up through diff eq and linear algebra
3. Physics, how far do I need to go? Need to take level 1 and 2, both of which are calc based
4. Chemistry. I know organic is required, but I love chemistry. How high should i go?
5. any other classes that would make me look attractive for med schools? I am aiming for mcgill medical school, its my dream 😍

On a side note, I've had to withdraw out of one class. calc 2 was abysmal. The teacher was god awful, and I was failing the class. The class has lost 75% of its students because of his poor teaching style. if I take it again next semester and get an A, how bad would the previous W look.

I was considering BME, ended up as ChemE. In both majors you end up mostly covering everything you need with little room for electives. You don't NEED to go any higher than organic in chemistry, so I think you're all set for the pre-reqs.

If you have time take anatomy/physiology or biochemistry.

1. yes
2. since you're going to take calc based physics, calc 2 might be a requirement, so check with that
3. you dont NEED TO go beyond physics 2
4. no need to go above orgo 2 unless you want to learn lab techniques; if so, you can take a chromatography or NMR class, depending on what your school offers
5. dont take stuff that you think will make you attractive...choose classes that you like. If you want to take a music class, then take a music class. If you want to take quantitative analysis or physical chemistry, then go with that. Just complete the prereqs and a couple upper level bio or chemistry classes should be fine :luck:
