Hey everyone!

So I've tried about five times to contact my advisor at my former undergraduate institution and he has not returned any calls or emails. So I'm turning to you all!

I am accepted at my in-state school as well as 2 out of state schools. I'm on the Waitlist at my top choice, which is an out of state school. After I pick one on April 30, it is my understanding that I can stay on the Waitlist for the one school potentially until I get accepted there? (Or don't get accepted there...)

I just wanted to confirm that I can stay on the waitlist at my top choice past April 30. Like I said, I can't get in touch with anyone who might know so in turning to you all for help!

Thanks! 🙂

Hope you don't mind if I piggyback on this thread, but does the April 30 deadline also apply to TX schools or is the TMDSAS "traffic rules" deadline in June? If it's the latter, then could an applicant hold one AMCAS acceptance and one TMDSAS acceptance all the way until June 15?

AMCAS and TMDSAS are separate systems but generally the schools treat each other the same if your are holding admission in one and get a later admission (ie waitlisted) later into another. Then you would not have an issue. If your are already holding acceptance to both AMCAS and TMDSAS on April 30th, then you could run into issues

After April 30, AMCAS traffic rules allow each school to set their own policies as below

"After April 30, implement school-specific procedures for accepted applicants who, without adequate explanation, continue to hold one or more places at other schools or programs.
a. Each school or program should permit applicants:

1. A minimum of 5 business days to respond to an acceptance offer. This may be reduced to a minimum of 2 business days within 30 days of the start of orientation.

2. Submit a statement of intent, a deposit, or both."

So an AMCAS school could require an additional enrollment/matriculation deposit (above the $100 "hold" acceptance fee) and be under no obligation to refund it if you already holding another acceptance at a TMDSAS school. Additionally, they could have a policy withdrawing an acceptance if you dont notify them of another acceptance or are holding an additional acceptance, etc. In other words, you could, however unlikely, lose a spot and would not have any recourse.

Thanks, Gonnif!

Thanks so much, everyone! I just wanted to make sure I understood it correctly! I really appreciate the input!

Reviving this thread from the dead to make sure I don't make a huge mistake in the next week or so. I am holding one acceptance and three waitlists at schools I prefer over my current spot. If I receive an offer from one of my WL schools after the 30th, do I need to withdraw immediately from the school where I am accepted? If I obtain a WL acceptance at one school, and do not decline or accept the offer immediately, do other schools where I am WL'd see that additional acceptance?
I am a bit nervous because I anticipate WL movement to be inversely proportional to my desire to attend a given school, so I am likely to be bouncing around.

You will have time to decide. See the traffic rules here. They recommend a minimum of five business days for you to decide, unless it is within 30 days of the start of orientation.

Also, after May 15, the school you are currently holding will be notified directly by the school that is accepting you off the waitlist.

The schools will still have access to the national acceptance report, which will show which acceptance(s) you are holding at the time. Are you worried about accepting one offer, only for your top choice school to think that since you've already changed teams you aren't likely to do so again? I doubt that would happen.

Yes, I have received the impression that I should be over here jumping up and down saying "PICK ME! OOOH OOOH PICK ME!!" for the next month or so. Maybe that's unnecessary. I sure hope so.

One of my schools has not rendered financial aid or scholarship awards to anyone in the accepted class. Argh. This is the one piece of information keeping me from making a final decision. Is this common? Are schools somehow mandated to give financial aid before Traffic Day? Or is it just best practice?
