I was looking into cardiac but changed to Peds; I spoke with a current fellow for cardiac at CC, he was killing a year waiting for his wife to finish medicine there and was paranoid about CRNA's so did cardiac..................ultimately said on paper was like gold looking for jobs and didn't regret doing it, but worked harder than residency..............usually over 90, more like 110 hours a week b/c they let you know day one your gonna work hard and fellows don't have work restrictions, so was kinda brutal, but attendings were excellent for most part as cardiac at CC is totally separate from regular anesthesia, it's among the biggest in country for cardiac cases. I personally didn't want to work that much as a fellow, wanting to concentrate on my boards. He had no chance to study for boards at all, but was happy with his sacrifice.
