At Asclepius Advising, mid-March is a turning point.

This is when we look back at the people who trusted us with one of the most consequential professional decisions of their lives. Many of our former clients are now deep into first-year exams. Others are preparing for Step 1. Some are already balancing overnight call with life. A number of them arrived to us as reapplicants carrying real doubts about their academic record, their story, or their place in medicine. What followed were thousands of hours of strategy, writing, revision, and hard conversations. That investment produced focused, resilient matriculants. Today, they are physicians and physicians-in-training. We remain in touch. The group chats stay active. Watching them practice thoughtful, ethical medicine is one of the most meaningful parts of this work.

Mid-March is also when the current cycle becomes clear for most applicants. By now, many have received final decisions. Some are celebrating acceptances. Others are confronting outcomes that did not match their expectations. Wherever you fall, this is a moment for honesty and forward motion.

If you are still waiting for interviews, it is time to assume they are unlikely to come and begin planning your next move. If you are waitlisted and serious about matriculating this year, now is the time to prepare a focused, credible letter of intent and consider if you are going to reapply. Whether you're talking about it or preparing to reapply, you must act fast. Strong reapplicants do not start in late April: they start now.

We have experienced both sides of this process. We have been accepted. We have reapplied. The cycle can feel definitive, but it is not destiny. Medicine rewards persistence paired with disciplined strategy. Take a breath. Assess your position with clear eyes. Then build the next version of your application with purpose.

If you assessing your next steps or not sure what to think about, then talk with us for a free consultation. We offer Application Autopsy services and a variety of others to suit your needs.
