Do you guys think an acute setting is diversified enough form a skilled nursing home/transitional care unit? I know it's not clear cut like acute vs. outpatient ortho, but they're still two distinctly different settings correct?

Ya, they're different settings. Skilled nursing for the most part is considered sub-acute.

Acute care is vastly different from the TCU/skilled nursing setting. I have worked in all three of these settings, and I would definitely disagree that skilled nursing is considered TCU. Skilled nursing mainly is going to deal with the general decline in health, where the TCU is going to deal with a lot of ortho diagnoses, cardiac, infectious disease, etc. I guess the similarity lies in the age population, most of both require working in the geriatric population. I work in a TCU right now, and the diversity I see is good, not great by any means though.
