How many clinical hours are expected for someone taking 1 gap year? By the time I graduate/apply, I will have about 900 hours split between working as a medical assistant (700) and volunteering at community health events (200).

Additionally, is it okay to have more research hours than clinical hours? I have read that it is okay as long as you have enough clinical hours which is why I want to make sure that I'm okay with my clinical hours.

It depends what you mean by "enough." 150 hours is "enough" to avoid getting screened out at most schools, but you will need more hours if you want to stay on par with most applicants (I've seen some schools report medians at least of 500+ each for clinical and community service). Experience quality matters, especially in how it relates to your purpose as a physician and mission fit with the institution.
