I recently found myself tied to a particular geographic region, due to family, and was looking for postdoc based on location. Here are some of the things I did:
- Looked at APPIC listings
- Looked at psychologist/therapist jobs on indeed.com, checked if they absolutely required licensure.
- Looked at lists of all universities in the region, looked up their counseling centers one by one. If counseling centers employed PhDs/PsyD's, emailed directors asking if they have a staff psychologist and/or post-doc opening
- Looked at private practices in the region on psychologytoday.com (not super helpful, as most were solo psychologists)
-Looked at the state's psychological association and checked if any postdocs were listed there
- Googled "Psychologist, City, State" and the like (surprisingly there were a lot of hits that were not listed anywhere else... how do people actually find a therapist is such a mysterious process!)
-I also looked at various adjunct, lecturer, etc. positions, on the off chance that I wouldn't get a post doc in time and would have to re-apply next year. Luckily, it didn't come to that =)
