hi. this is my very first post, so i'm new to this. i'm a second year undergraduate and i recently decided dentistry over medicine. i was wondering if anyone could give me some information on dental schools that focus mostly on clinical experience, specifically in cali (i want to stay in my home state). i heard ucsf and ucla are more research oriented, and uop focuses more on clinical. any opinions? also, any information on schools from other states too? i'm more familiar with cali schools, but those seem to be very hard to get into.

Clinically wise, Pacific is the way to go. Outside of cali look at schools like Creighton, ASDOH, and others that don't have post-grad programs. You get a ton of clinical experience at places like those and a wide range of stuff.

He is also interested in out of state info as well....VCU is also very clinically oriented as well. They were very outspoken about that fact at my interview. Good luck!!

My bad. I stand corrected. Buffalo, Temple, and Tufts come to mind. Others might be Detroit-Mercy.

Can't believe Loma Linda didn't get suggested yet. Every LLU graduate I've talked to brags about the number of procedures they do before graduating in comparison to other schools. I know an NYU grad who only did 3 crowns. and a LLU grad who claims to have done over 100 before graduating (hard to believe, but even if it's exaggeration ... )

I know LLU has one of the most extensive outreach programs in the nation. The students go to other countries, namely Mexico a lot in order to practice their skills and help out the poor.
