Clinical Site Recommendations

I will be signing up for my final 2 internships within the next few days and I am wanting to get out of my home city for at least 1 of them. Does anyone have any recommendations? Would love to hear about great hospitals in your area, and what it's like in the city. I still have my Acute and Neuro Rehab (adult or peds) affiliations to fulfill.

I have a friend in Durham, so I was thinking Duke Medical Center. Duke students: how likely is it for an out of state student to get a spot?

I did my Inpatient rehab clinical at Swedish Covenant Hospital in Chicago, IL and highly recommend them if you are interested! They are very hard-working and skilled. I was impressed by their interdisciplinary teams, staff meetings, case studies, evidence-based practice, their drive to improve. I saw a variety of patient cases, and all of the clinicians there are very nice. You would have a great experience there!

I have a friend in Chicago, too! That would work out nicely. We don't have a contract with them, but I'll see if our DCE can set one up. Is it easy to get to via public transportation?

Yes, there are buses that run there, and depending on where you are coming from and how far, you could always take the el and then transfer to a bus. I either took the bus or biked there (when the weather was nice out).
