Hi everyone, whew, it's been a couple years...don't even recall my login, probably doesn't exist anymore...

I attended one of the practice sessions for the CSE, and other students are asking me some pretty specific questions about the exam format.

I couldn't find any sample "door sheets" online at USMLE, but I figured one of you folks could help me out.

I can't recall what the "instructions" usually read on the door sheets. After the patient info and CC, did they usually say something like, "perform a focused history and physical," and did the instructions ever vary?

None of MY practice case instructions varied, whatever those specific instructions were, but I wasn't sure what the variety of experience is out there.

Thanks,
~kris

They don't vary unless it's a psych or peds case. In the psych case you're not asked to do a physical and in the peds case, you're going to be talking to a parent (can't remember what the instructions said).

Some people get phone cases where the instructions include a phone number to call but that's pretty self-explanatory.

Yup, in general, the information sheet tells you the patient's name, chief complaint, vitals, and directions. Usually, it tells you to perform a focused H&P. For some patients (phone conversation, parents of pediatric patients, etc.) you just take a history. You're never required to examine a pediatric patient.

Looks good around here. Lots of new construction...

Thanks for the replies! You guys are the best!
I'll be able to pass this along to my classmates.
