I really want to be a good clinician right after 4 yr dental school (i know both are excellent)... I reside in NJ (~ UMDNJ) but still only 15 minutes away from Temple (out of state).... so which school is BETTER clinical wise....

Please include other aspects also.... like location (both S%%itty), patient pool (?), book vs e-curriculum...

Thanking in advance,

I'm going to Temple next year. They are known for pumping out well experienced clinicians. No idea about NJ, but if you got instate tuition and it would cost you <200,000 I would probably attend considering Temple you are looking about 300,000....

hi chose Temple over UMDNJ

I am a PA resident however I grew up in NJ right outside of philly (my family lives there). I decided before I applied to dental school that I wanted to be at Temple.

Though I am not in the clinic just yet I can tell you my observations from when I was an intern at a clinic. Both schools were represented. Though both residents were more that competent the Dr. from Temple seemed more at ease with the procedures. In addition, it seemed that the student from Temple seemed to have a stringer base of knowledge.

I think at either school you will receive a great clinical education. Both are in areas that have populations that need to be served. I have friends at UMDNJ and they love it.

For me, Temple is closer to my family and I feel as though it was the correct choice for me. Ultimately you have to go where you felt more comfortable. In addition don't forget that money can be a deciding factor. If you are going to save alot from going instate to UMDNJ... then you have to take that into consideration.

Good Luck!
