When I had my interview at SUNY about a month ago, they told me that the school has a lot of cliques (spelling?) and that people tend to always hang out with the same group of people. Is this true at most OD schools.

Thanks

I think that's pretty much true everywhere, not just optometry school.

^ agreed

people tend to stick with people who are similar to themselves, it's only natural

what's so wrong about it?

Optometry school is just like high school. You'd be really amazed at how a bunch of "adults" in their mid-20s start acting like a bunch of 15 year olds in OD school. 🙄

That hasn't really been my experience. I think people have their groups like they do in high school (and everywhere else), but that's where the similarities end.

...and yet, in spite of all the different cliques, there will always be that one person that is not "cliquey" and that everyone likes and consider a friend.

I think that happens everywhere, from office buildings to schools... Its natural, but I wouldnt be intimidated by it... You're bound to make your own friends in your first year, and remember that almost everyone is going to be in the same shoes the first time around.

In my school it's 3rd graders we compare them to. At least your kids are a bit older. :meanie:
