Howdy,

Long story short: tunnel-vision for 12 years, brut-force intention of going into IM to further pursue cardiology. Now interested in EM. I have a 247 Step 1, a few research experiences (but no posters/publications) in immunology and nephrology - obviously not EM. A handful of student interest group leadership roles (none in EM though), and a handful of random volunteer activities through medical school. I feel I've done well preparing for the Match for IM, but I have no clue what I can reasonably at this point in the game to "rebuild" and reframe my achievements to be successful in the EM match. I don't even know what programs are considered "good/competitive/strong" or if I would have any business applying to them.

Would really appreciate some insight and advice from anyone willing to help.

Thanks 🙂

Most of my research has been outside of EM and it hasn't been an issue. Try to get involved in your schools EM interest group this year. I believe the most important part is just knocking your away rotations out of the park and the rest is all extra.
