Alright everybody it's about that time of the year again...FINALS time. I'm bored, stressed, and tired, and I'm sure alot of you guys are too. Anyway, I thought it might be inspiring to hear some stories about your clutch performance on finals. I want to hear about how you jumped from a failing grade to a passing one. I want to hear about how you needed to get 95 on the final to get an A and you got the 95. catch my drift? let's hear some inspiring stories.

Last year, I needed a 96 in genetics, 95 in ochem, and 86 in anatomy to get solid A's in those classes...I ended up surprising myself with 98's on the ochem and genetics finals and an 86 in anatomy! Good luck on finals everyone!!🙂

Calc III: needed a 96 for an A, scored a 98

Optics, Oscillations, and Thermodynamics: needed a 95, got a 100

Quantum Mechanics I: needed a 94, got a 95

Physics: needed around a 65% for the A, took the test and got 112% after the curve (I think around a mid 80% before the curve)

African American Literature: Blew off studying for the final cuz I had 4 science (300 and 400 level microbiology) finals. Luckily the test was on the last day possible. Studied and read (I blew off about the last 2 weeks of readings)from the time I got out of my last science final on a Thursday until my about 3 hours before the African American Literature final woke up, ran to my test and got an A.

You can do it my friend, pressure sometimes brings out the best in a person.🙂

👍

Needed approx a 95 to get an A for my molec/cell bio class. Dozed through the last two weeks of class (75% material of the final was on that), studied from the last class until 4Am the night before the final.
98 😀

It's do-able, it just takes a lot out of you

Needed 95% to get a B in stats...stopped going to class 4 weeks into the quarter knew none of the material, had 3 finals before..luckily this was last, had a day in between this one and the 2nd to last..went to basketball night before..came bk studied all night..98%

haha yea ive been in this situation so many times. if i had a B (test average) going into the final, i kiiiillllt the curve everysingle time

my method of studying is to not go to class and wait until like the night before. start at 1 am and just go until the exam. i love energy drinks. i actually order mix and match from websites and just drink like 3-4 redbulls/whatevers that night off. i love the rush man. not in school any more and now things are so boring and regularized. urgh!

if i have like a B avg in the class and grades are mostly non test grades than i have no clue whats going on and i usually cant raise that grade.

ie, last semester grad biochem, pchem2, and quantum and differentials (i believe) - got 100 on the final to go from B to A

like the 6th semester french advanced course - had the most credits and ended up with a B. i think i had like an A- going in, but if you don't have hot chicks in french class in the spring, like whats the frigging point mannnnnn

sick sn and thread by the way.

love the word clutch, use that **** all the time.

you know whats really clutch? having backdoors/2 sided entrance to buildings,
dont take those for granted

You took PChem 2 and quantum mechanics?

Im what you call the definition of clutch, every test is like this for me😉

I remember it just like yesterday, I had rushed to my car that morning in hopes of making it to the P-Chem final on time.

When I finally got there half an hour late, I spilt the bad news to the professor, I had just gotten into a car accident on my way there. The good news was that I saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by fleeing the scene of the accident. I stapled the money I saved to the blank test with my name on it and handed it to the professor and left. Needless to say, I ended up with an A+ and a recommendation letter.

Freshman year I needed at 100 on my economics final to pull an A. I studied like mad for that comprehensive test, and pulled it off. C-L-U-T-C-H

Hahaha

I guess you can call this clutch:

I needed a 96 on my Organic 2 final, to get an A.

I looked at the final, skimmed all the pages, just to see the point distribution, and came to the conclusion that If I mess up one question, my A will be gone. (The final was out of 100 points)

I literally froze the first 3 minutes. I was terrified, but then I was like "you know what, let me just get through this, whatever happens happens"

And I did the whole final. Checked it over, and handed it in.

I got a 100 in the end.

Point of the story:
A.) Obviously study hard, if you know you're going to need a really high score.
B.) Go in with the right mentality. Focus on the actual exam. There were questions I was unsure about. I didn't kill myself over those questions. I just answered them and moved on to the next page. I truly believe that had I spent more time worrying about these questions, and mourning about the possibility that they may be the ones to destroy my chances at getting an A, I would have failed the final.

Good luck on your finals everyone.

thx witness 23! anyway, some of you people are ridiculously clutch! i'm surprised there aren't more responses on here. we all know how much sdn premeds love to brag 😉. as an aside, this thread fully condones all forms of self aggrandizement. so let's hear some more stories!!

I needed a 92 on my Calc final to get an A and got a 93. I also remember doing poorly on my first test in Vertebrate Physiology, needing to average a 95-96 on the 3 remaining exams(final included) to pull off the A. My average? 99 🙂

Freshman Spring, I only needed a 50 something on a Calc II final to get an A but I stayed up with my friends who were done their finals on Friday night...
A fifth of Crown later and I miss my 7:30am Saturday final by 2 hours (which is when it ends), rush over still drunk, tell something to my prof who lets me take the final in his office and somehow pull an 80. Never doing that again...

i needed a 96 on a bio final.. studied A LOT and got a 97 🙂..

need a 96 again this semester.. but I cant get my self to study... FML!

btw.. i need a 104 on my organic final to get an A - she give extra credit on finals.. highest score on her final so far in the last 8 years was 91... im screwed

Ahh! I am a freshman undergraduate student right now. I have NEVER studied this much. As tiring as it is, it feels good! I need a 68 percent to keep my "A" in biology, a "B" on this paper to keep my "A" in English, a "B" to keep my "B" in chemistry, and an "A" to raise my "B" to an "A" in Spanish. Wish me luck!

Hopefully I can pull out a clutch final for Calc... currently have a C+ in Calc II (there's only 1 A in the class right now), and if you get an A on the final, he gives you an A for the semester.

NEED THAT A!

I would go all out, and set a new record for the final. Even if you get 95, she might bump you even more, considering you have broken the old record.

thanks for the motivation!!.. I'll try my best and update my result on here 👍

This was for a psychology class that should have been easy...i actually nearly failed it. The class only has a midterm and final exam, and i got an 80 on the mid. Not so great. So for our 4-essay take home final, I made sure to meticulously check over everything, go into great detail, and so on. At about 6 pm the day it was due, I polished it one last time and submitted. I happened to look at the instruction sheet again, and noticed that the deadline was 12 PM of the due date, NOT AM. It clearly stated in bold letters that late submissions would start at a grade of 50%.
I was six hours late, and started to freeaaaakkk out. After a few emails and text messages (yes text messages) to my professor, he finally told me that it was ok, and that a bunch of people from the class had done the same!!

He just posted official grades today...got an A- instead of a D or F, what beats that! I must have done really well on the essays... And I will forever love this professor for forgiving my stupidity.

Actually, edit my last message. I need a 68 percent to keep my "A" in biology, and a 100 percent to get an "A" in chemistry. A 99.5 would not cut it. : /

It's been a long time since this happened (4 years to be exact), but I had a C- or so going into my final exam for Physics II and I ended up in the class with a B+. I guess I actually decided to study for the last exam and did the homework problems. Imagine the result. In fact, I remember studying by candlelight for that exam for a few hours the night before because the power was out.

I 'thought' I needed to get a 98% on my Phys III final a few semesters ago. Got a 99%.

Get my final grade a few weeks later--> A-. Turned out professor was POed because I didn't turn in the homework, but snotted on the final anyway. So he decided to round a 93.01% "down" to an A-. I was pissed beyond belief and the professor refused to change it. I kept waving the syllabus in front of him showing that it said "93 and above was an A."

Filed a grade appeal, spent months going through all the **** to get it done. Finally, the college committee ruled against the prof. He was such a prick. That made my damn year when I found out I won the grade appeal. Now the entire physics department hates me, but it was worth it.

haha I had a similar situation but decided to just suck it up for this very reason. Was this in physics II? (I hope you don't have to take any more physics courses!)

I can't stand profs who get personally insulted and try to bump grades down significantly for "participation" just because you don't do the hw or attend every lecture. WHO F*CKING CARES how you learn the material, as long as you learned it and scored well? It's almost like they are offended that you could figure it out on your own. Do.not.understand...

No kidding. Professors like this drive me nuts. It is like you should be punished for being a good test taker and knowing how you study best. wtf? Homework and attendance may be good if you bomb tests, but I much prefer classes that have two grades: midterm and final.

It was in Physics III, I had to take upper level physics because I placed out of I & II w/ AP. Luckily, I don't have anymore physics. I do admit, I felt like kind of an bitch gunner for appealing an A- and they all hated me for it. But F em. Undergrads only get so many chances to pimp a prof. 100% worth it in hindsight

my favorite part of this thread is that when you go to the bottom and look at all the related threads, you see all these random use of the word clutch. its like fruit on the bottom of yogurt

--in Organic Chem. 1 this semester, I needed greater than a 90% on the final to secure my A. I was one of the 6 people (out of 141) to get greater than a 90% on it.

--In Bio 2 last semester I needed exactly a 90% (45/50 questions) or more on the last exam to get at least an A- (anything less and its a B+). My professor gave you the answers as soon as you finished the test, so I was trembling as I was checking, but I got exactly 45 questions correct.

"Clutch"=awesome/amazing/ridiculous/unbelievable?

Most skin-of-teeth: #9 of 9 to get As out of 80+ people in an intro-damn-ductory biology course. Yep.

My undergrad institution does not use a plus/minus system.
