A certain state's licensure requires 100 credit hours of CME over the past 2 years, where 50% is category I.

Where am I going to get this CME to qualify for licensure? I need it fast. Do you think I could just waive the requirement? How do I get out of this situation?
Thanks in advance.

Have you been a resident over the last year? If so, that oughta cover it. If not, you can't "get out of it," you have to do it.

Are you a resident now?

You've been working as a GP but haven't been keeping up with CME credits? 😕

I'm confused.

Are you a resident applying for a medical license for the first time? In that case, I don't know of any state that requires CME to apply for a license.

As far as I know, CME requirements are for renewal of a license. 100 hours with 50 as cat 1 are fairly typical requirements for license renewal (and easy to satisfy over the course of two years).

Make sure you're understanding the requirements correctly for your situation.

Agree with above; if you're a resident applying for your first unrestricted license, then you're exempt (at least in many states, specific DPRs may have weird requirements).

If you're renewing, then you need it. Typically, going to 1-2 meetings/year will cover your CME. If that's not enough, then don't forget you can get CME for re-upping your merit badges (BLS, ACLS, etc.).

Finally, you can always do a google search for online CME. Medscape & eMedicine offer CME for doing their online quizzes...

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the replies. I'm a gp. i did do 66 credits of cme last year, just have some more to go. i am not currently a resident.interestingly, this state's initial requirement is 100 cme.
Where can i get a mass amount of CME in a short amount of time? I have to renew my license by January.

Thanks.

You could bust your arse and do about 88 Medscape CMEs - for a GP there would undoubtedly be a ton of topics which would be relevant. Most of the topics are 0.5 CMEs but only take a few minutes each (Hint: sometimes you can answer the questions without even reading the article if you are familiar with the topic). Print out CME certificate instantly.

Otherwise, a week long conference will get you lots of CMEs.
