There's been insurance fraud for as long as there's been insurance, regardless of the type. Back in the 1980s, I read somewhere that auto insurance fraud alone cost every American $200 a year. Not every driver, every AMERICAN. 😱 I totally believe it, and you know the amount would be much, much higher now.

It's believed that as many as 10% of Medicare claims are fraudulent, which amounts to about $50 billion a year. I believe that this would cover a huge percentage of the bills for un(der)insured Americans.

Recently, when I was perusing my state's disciplinary reports, I read about a man who lost his license, and went to prison, for Medicaid fraud. It appeared that he opened his business for the sole purpose of doing this! :wow:
