Hi folks,

I'm interested in starting a co-op house wherever I end up attending medical school (applying this year). The idea would be to find about six like minds in the first few months, or even before school starts, and set up a co-op. We would rotate through cooking for the house, perhaps three times a month each, so that we'd have 7x3=21 healthy meals a month. We'd have community and common spaces for study and relaxation. And besides having healthy meals, we'd save a lot of money. My friends in East Bay (California) co-ops tend to spend no more than 600 bucks for room and board, which is unthinkable in Berkeley or Oakland in any other arrangement.

Is anyone doing this? Anyone thinking about doing this?

Lots of medical students live in houses together. Although I'm not sure how often they share the cooking. Many times people use the XYZSOM Class facebook group to coordinate roommate arrangements before class starts.
